I am always honored when invited to join Mary and Pam for Tea on Tuesdays.
Please be sure to check out their beautiful Christmas tea times at the bottom of the page, as you will be thoroughly inspired by their loveliness and beauty.
It's an exciting time when I'm invited as I start planning and thinking about what I can share with all of you.
My Christmas tea table is filled with so many memories of loved ones. The lace tablecloth belonged to my maternal grandmother and my beloved mom passed it to me. The Johnson Brothers Merry Christmas trio is such a vintage pattern and one of my all-time favorites. The pattern was produced from 1958-1995.
This beautiful angel was created by my darling daughter and made from pages of a bible. Isn't she beautiful? Can you believe all the loving work she did? I saw the vases of various heights at my friend Joyce's Christmas party last year, and she gave me the floating candles. I bought the vases at Dollar Tree, put in branches from my East Palatka Holly trees and some fresh cranberries and copied Joyce's centerpiece. So easy and pretty!
My daughter gave this pretty "Enjoy your tea Nana" teaspoon one year.
The pretty silverplate cake stand belonged to my Paternal Grandmother Grace and the serving piece was my darling mom's, which she probably bought at a thrift store. My mom loved thrifting! Which scone would you like to try? The ones on the right are my Christmas Scones, and you can find the recipe for them here. The ones on the left are Cinnamon Chip Scones and I will include the recipe for them. If you'd like to make some Mock Devonshire Cream, you can find the recipe here.
The pewter Williamsburg teapot belonged to my late Great Aunt Kitty and my late beloved hubby bought me the sugar and creamer set. Yes, I'm having some Christmas Night tea to sip with my scones.
My four kids gave me this Nativity Set many years ago, and I love getting it out and setting it up every Christmas.
This is how my dining room table looks normally, with this wooden box that my hubby made for me from old barn wood, the Christmas before he passed away. It's always filled with the faux hydrangeas, greenery and some seasonal decoration in the middle. Different faux picks are changed out for the seasons, and I always have my Maternal Grandmother Josephine's lacy tablecloth scrunched up underneath it.
Yield: 12
Cinnamon Chip Scones
These are yummy, flaky scones and perfect anytime of the year.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar, plus additional for dusting the scones (I like to use sparkling sugar for dusting)
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup cinnamon chips (Hershey makes these)
- 1 egg, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. (You can also put all this in a food processor, and pulse until the mixture looks like coarse meal, and then transfer it to a large bowl.) Stir in cinnamon chips.
- In another bowl, combine egg yolk, vanilla and buttermilk. Stir all this into the dry ingredients until just combined. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Handle as gently as possible, pat into a 10" circle that is about 1/2" thick and cut into wedges; or, cut with a 2" cookie cutter. Place scones on an ungreased baking sheet. Lightly beat the egg white and then brush the tops with the egg white; dust with sugar.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.
Notes
I often freeze the scones after they are cut out, by putting them on parchment paper and then when frozen, place them in food storage bags. They can be taken out when needed, and then baked, allowing a few extra minutes for baking time.
You can also freeze them after they are baked and cooled, and then when needed, let them thaw and reheat in a 350 degree oven for a few minutes to warm up.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love those Christmas plates! So pretty! I am SO far behind, as you can see, on catching up on blogs. We have had a lot of sickness in our home, and it has been a very difficult time. But, today, I am trying to go back through and see what I missed, and it makes me miss Christmas! Thank you SO much for the pretty card and beautiful angel you made for me! It brightened my whole day. God bless you, sweet friend.
