Pumpkin Spice Blondie Bars

Today's tea in the garden is with spicy blondie bars and pumpkin chai tea.

I found this pretty Fall teapot in a thrift store for $3.75.  Isn't it perfect for this time of year.  I'll show you the other side in another post.

I'm using my Paprika colored Fiesta Ware mug, as it's a pretty, warm color for Fall, and it blends with the colors in my teapot.

I crocheted this pumpkin from directions that I found at Priscilla's.  The instructions can be found  here.   The only thing that I did differently was to chain varying lengths for the leaves.  I taught my sister and a niece how to make these adorable pumpkins.  It's a great project for learning how to chain and single crochet.

It seems like Target is so good about stocking seasonal food items, like these Pumpkin Spice Morsels.  If you can't find them, the blondie bars would be
good with cinnamon, chocolate or butterscotch chips, too.   Here's the recipe that was on the back of the bag in case you need to substitute one of the other flavors of chips.

2 1/4 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
3 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 10 ounce package Pumpkin Spice Morsels, divided

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl.  Beat sugar and butter in large mixer bowl until creamy.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Gradually beat in flour mixture.  Stir in 1 1/3 cups morsels. Spread into prepared pan.  Sprinkle with remaining 1/3 cup morsels.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until top is golden brown.  Cool in pan on wire rack.  Cut into bars.  Store tightly covered.

Makes 40 bars

  15. Haha Kitty. We are both thinking pumpkin.

  16. Hello Kitty. I looked at that little pumpkin or apple or ? and thought I just saw something like that in my Mom's kitchen....except twine came out the bottom so I guess it was crocheted over a ball of twine. This was a fun and sweet posting!

  17. You always display your tea parties so beautifully, Kitty.
    That pumpkin is darling!
Pumpkin spice chips... I never knew they made such a thing.
I have been wanting a piece of pumpkin pie, so today I finally satisfied that craving and baked a pie. Ohhh it was good!
We had cool rainy weather today, perfect weather for baking.
    The Lord bless you.
    Joy! Debbie

  18. Your pumpkin bars look yummy and your teapot is so cute, Give me pumpkin anything and I will eat it! Your Fiesta Ware mug is such a pretty color. The pumpkin you crocheted is so cute, and if we lived closer, I would see if you could teach me :o)

  19. I didn't even know that Nestles' MADE " Pumpkin Spice Morsels"!! I must look for some soon. Your treats always make my mouth water, Kitty & your set up looks so warm & inviting. Thanks for sharing the blondie recipe.
love the little crocheted pumpkin and that Fiesta Ware mug is just PERFECT for the season!

I've been enjoying hot sugar free Alpine Spiced Cider with a splash of sugar free DaVinci caramel syrup in my mugs lately. Nice autumnal treat...try it! Feels decadant but no calories!

  20. The teapot is perfect for this season and I drink pumpkin chai a fair bit myself. The crocheted pumpkins are cute and I just may check our Target store to see what seasonal items they have. I don't know what happened but the apple cake I made was a bust, it rose like a puffy quilt in the pan but at least hubby and I were able to chuckle at the appearance. It didn't get iced and we ate it as it was.

  21. Can you believe I have yet to make something pumpkin! These look amazing, my friend :) And your sweet crocheted pumpkin is adorable - I love it!

    Hugs to you!

  22. I am going to look locally for the pumpkin spice chip thingies. If I can't find them, I'm sending the husband on a Target run in his business travel. This is a MUST try. I used to be able to find cinnamon morsels which made wonderful cookies and blondies. I can't find them now.

    Need to try this.

And... true story: The only thing I have ever crocheted is a very large granny square that turned into a huge blanket. It got huge because I didn't know how to stop. LOL I can only imagine the Great Pumpkin I would end up with if I started.

  23. Your bars sound wonderful Kitty! I saw those chips at Target and debated buying a bag but didn't have a recipe in mind. I wonder if they'll still be any on the shelves if I go back! Love your wonderful teapot, what a find! Your crocheted pumpkin is adorable too :)

  24. Your cookies sound divine Kitty, but it's your crocheted pumpkin that has my eye, that is adorable!! Thanks so much for sharing the link you found!

  25. Hi Kitty! Your tea looks so yummy today! I've never heard of pumpkin chips--thanks for sharing their existence and the recipe--I'll have to make a trip to my local Target. I really like your new basketweave teapot and it sounds like a great deal, which makes it even better! Cute pumpkin too by the way. Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I hope you have a great week :)

  26. G'day via Foodie Friday! I wish I could find those pumpkin chips over here! They look amazing as does your blondie bar! Yum.

    Best wishes,
