This past Saturday would've been my 56th Wedding Anniversary.
I was at a Gift of Empathy book study at my church and at the end of our session, we can offer prayers. My prayer was of thanksgiving for having 43 years with my beloved, and for family and friends. In honor of our anniversary, I set a pretty table with mementos (sorry for the glare!). I've kept our wedding cake topper all these years, and it still looks pretty good.
This Royal Albert flower of the month was the perfect choice.
My Aunt Kitty gave us this pretty painted plate, but it was actually painted by her teacher.
My son Kevin, and daughter in law Kristen gave me a gift card to Sur la Table several years ago and I bought the rosebud cakelet pan by Nordic Ware. I used a strawberry cake mix and made a simple powdered sugar glaze and added some pink sprinkles on top. Using a cake release inside the cavities of the pan made them so easy to come out. You can find the cake release recipe at the bottom of the recipe for another bundt cake, which is found under notes here. I think the rosebud cakelets turned out so pretty.
Recently Kevin, Kristen, Harper and Hayden and I went to the Painted Teacup and painted some pieces of our choice. Kristen painted a colander, Harper did the snack time plate that Kevin had to draw the design on first for her, Hayden painted the octopus and I did the strawberry spoon rest. We had fun doing this craft and then we went out to eat. In the bottom left is little Hayden who just got braces, and Kevin and Harper went mountain biking for 22 miles in Colorado. She could hardly wait to to get on the trails!
I hope you all have a wonderful 250th Birthday celebration of our great USA!

I'm sharing with these parties:

That is a pretty anniversary table and your cake looks yummy. How sweet that you still have your cake topper after all this time. I have no clue where ours is... or even what it looked like!
ReplyDeleteAw Kitty, aren't our memories wonderful and to honor your beloved and yourself with those adorable cakelets is something I would do too. Even though I am happily married for over 20 years, I still have precious memories of my late husband. I love your sweet plate your Aunt Kitty gifted you. AND the pieces painted from the Painted Teacup are adorable. I know you had a grand ole' time painting with your grands and then out to eat later. Harper makes me smile at her enthusiasm for mountain biking. Stay cool in these hotter days of Summer. πΊπΈπΈπ₯°
ReplyDeleteLove the rose little cakes. I will try those I have seen the rose molds for baking. I will have to look at your recipe for the release. Wow 56 years you would have been with each other. I feel you still are and he is with you everyday. So good for you to celebrate your anniversary. Terry and I will be married 45 years this September. Where does the time go? Have a good start to the new week my sweet friend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteKitty, what a beautiful way to honor your anniversary and celebrate the wonderful memories you shared together. π Your table is filled with so much love, and I smiled when I saw that you still have your wedding cake topper after all these years. The Royal Albert teacup is the perfect choice, and those adorable rosebud cakelets are almost too pretty to eat! I also loved seeing the special pieces you and your family painted together at the Painted Teacup. What a fun outing and such sweet keepsakes to treasure. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt post—it reminds us how precious happy memories are and how they continue to bless us. Sending you a hug and wishing you a wonderful week ahead. πΉπ«π
ReplyDeleteKitty, how sweet to still honor the love of your life and your anniversary! This is really special. The dark hair threw me, but you are still as pretty as you were on that day in 1970! Amazing how time marches on, yet we can still so vividly recall these days of old. One of my sisters will celebrate her 58th on 9/6 (both still living! and I was her jr bridesmaid), and another sister and her husband celebrated their 54th in April, and we will celebrate my sister and her husband's 50th with a party their kids are hosting on 8/2 (married 7/31/76).
ReplyDeleteSending you big hugs for the memory of your true love. And Happy Semiquincentennial!
Happy Anniversary my dear Kitty. I love that you still take time to remember. I love your keepsakes. I just pulled out one of my wedding day keepsakes from my Grandma Martha.
ReplyDeleteIt is a music box of a bride and groom. The only trouble is the bride is blonde and I had dark brown hair. Hee hee!
Have a blessed week ahead.
Love, Carla
Happy Anniversary sweet friend! What a lovely way to celebrate and remember! The June teacup & saucer are beautiful! How nice to see the fun activities your family enjoys together. Keep cool this week. The temps here in NW Ohio are close to the same in FL! Mercy me! Take good care. XO
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to celebrate your wedding anniversary. I especially enjoyed seeing your wedding photo.
ReplyDeleteThe purple octopus caught my eye. I'm going to have to check if my local library has the Gift of Empathy book.
