My son, Tim's, birthday is today and he and his two daughters, Avery and Ella came over for brunch on Sunday. I had a crustless quiche, roasted potatoes, muffins, and monkey bread.
I also had yogurt parfaits with my favorite granola, and assorted berries.
This little cutie pie came and spent the night with me. Hayden loves coming to Nana's house. My son, Mike, got to play with her because his company that he got a job with last December, dissolved on August 1st. He's back to looking for another job.
We made cookies.
We also made homemade play dough, recipe found here.
My grandson, Caiden, had Senior night and the parents and family walk out with the player as they're introduced. He's here with his stepdad, my daughter, Cissy, and his dad.
Avery took a selfie of us, with Mike, me, Tim, Ella and Avery. Avery made captain of her high school volleyball team! Happy Birthday, Tim!
Yield: 1 pound of yummy bacon
Candied Bacon
This recipe is adapted from Bobby Flay's recipe. I changed up the method, oven temperature, and cooking time. You may have to adapt to your oven.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- 1 pound of bacon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Whisk together maple syrup, mustard, and pepper in a small bowl.
- Lay the bacon onto parchment lined rimmed baking sheet pans. I had to use two sheet pans.
- Bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove the sheet pans, and using a pastry brush, generously glaze the bacon.
- Return to the oven, and cook for another 10-12 minutes, or until your desired crispness.
- Drain the bacon on paper towels.
- Transfer to a platter and serve.
Notes
I like to make things ahead of time, and I did this the day before and put the bacon on a heat proof platter, covered and refrigerated, and then reheated in the oven the next day.
Thank you for your visit! xo
Sounds just wonderful, will be making this very soon. Thanks for sharing.
