Easy Vanilla Ice Cream

Quick, we have to ice our ice cream before it melts in the 100 degree days we've been having!

This Olde English Countryside teacup, by Johnson Brothers, is a favorite of mine, because I love cottage scenes. We'll pretend that we are in the cool, countryside of England.

This  Price Kensington cottage teapot was a last year's purchase from eBay.  When it arrived, there was a big chip out of the bottom right corner.  I wrote the seller and wanted to send it back, but he offered to refund some of the money,  and I decided to keep it.  I filled in the large chip with spackling, let it dry, and my son, Mike, painted it, blending it perfectly, and varnished it.   You can't even tell, can you??

I'm using my crystal wedding goblets, which are Elyse, by Franciscan, for my hot fudge sundae.   Don't you love how I put some hot fudge sauce in the very bottom as a nice surprise?  Yes, I ate the whole thing!

Easy Vanilla Ice Cream, courtesy of Trisha Yearwood

(I made the whole recipe, but had to only put half at a time in my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker)

1 51/2 -ounce package vanilla instant pudding and pie-filling mix
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 cups whole milk
1 12 -ounce can evaporated milk

Combine the pudding mix and sugar in a large bowl. Slowly stir in the whole and evaporated milks. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth. Churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's directions, then freeze until firm.

This week at Nana's Cooking Camp, these two grands loved making the easy vanilla ice cream. We also made Rice Krispie treats and decorated them with colorful sprinkles that they picked out from my cupboard.  Their Uncle Mike gave a lesson in drawing the darling penguins, to go with our icy theme,  and then we used watercolors to paint them.  Top left is mine, top right is Mike's;  bottom left is Cissy's and bottom right is Caiden's.

I am sharing this with these lovely parties:

Thank you for your visit!  xo

  5. Wow, Mike did a great job repainting and repairing your cottage teapot Kitty! I bet your grands love having their uncle give them art lessons when they come to camp. I don't have an ice cream maker by design, WAY too much temptation but that ice cream recipe sounds so good and so does your hot fudge sundae :)

  6. Dear Kitty:
I love that Price Kensington teapot. I think you might know I have one too. It just takes you away to England. I am so glad you were able to repair it and no one would ever know. Great job. What a darling post. our temps here have come down a few degrees which is fine with me. What a lovely setting for your tea. Better have that ice cream quick though!

  10. The teapot is adorable and disappointing when something arrives chipped - but you can't tell!
My husband would love this hot fudge sundae, never made my own ice-cream but I'm sure it tastes better than store bought.

  18. This post made me smile, Kitty. Your Mike did a fabulous job fixing the teapot. He's a handy guy to have around, I would say. The cottage teacups and teapots are aways a favourite. The ice cream sundae looks lovely. I have never made ice cream but this sure looks easy enough. I remember well my Granny's home made ice cream. It was ambrosia! Thank you for joining me this week and have a super week, my friend.

    Blessings,

  19. Kitty,
That is the sweetest teapot!!! I clicked on the photo to make it larger, thought I'd be able to see where the chip might have been but could not find it!!! You both did a wonderful job repairing and hiding it!!! I'm impressed! Cute little teacup too!!!

That vanilla ice cream looks a little too easy to make, could be dangerous! And I am on a diet. :( When I make sundaes I always put some sauce in the bottom! It's no fun to get to the bottom and have none!!!

Love your cooking camp idea!!! Sounds like so much fun! Have a lovely week Kitty!

Oh, what a delicious treat to enjoy with your little sweethearts :) It's been FOREVER since I've had a hot fudge sundae and seeing yours has me wanting one right now...maybe I should make a dash for the grocery store to get some hot fudge...or not as it's 10:15 pm. But....it would taste really good right now {{smiles}}

Love and hugs to you, dear Kitty!

  25. Love your restored little teapot...I have several with chips & never thought to try to mend them. Your Mike is so very talented & I love that he is teaching the next generation to draw. Wish I'd had someone like that in my life when I was little.
Since we have Handels ice cream right down the road, this is the first recipe of yours that I will NOT be making! LOL It sure looks luscious, though.

I'm making some strawberry 'no-churn' ice cream for the weekend. I've never made it before so we will see, but I'll serve with chocolate cake so all will be well. 48. Oooh, wow, when I was quite young, my mom used to make homemade vanilla ice cream. It was sooo good, but took a lot of work. This looks like another delicious recipe I might be capable of making. The hot fudge sundae looks delicious. From your grandchildren's expressions, it must be a winner. Your cottage teapot and old English tea cup are beautiful!
