Tea Honoring Mom

I"m honoring my Mom with a virtual  Mother's Day tea and serving her favorite Date and Nut Bread, only as muffins.  The knock-out roses are from my garden.  The pretty napkin is a hankie from my"something old" from my wedding day, and the napkin ring is an angel bracelet that my Mom made for me.

I'm sharing some pictures of my Mom and I, one from my wedding day and the other of us dancing and having fun at my youngest son's and DIL's wedding.  My Mom still loves to dance!

I found this pretty lady's bust at HomeGoods and decorated her with some of the necklaces that my sweet Mom has made for me.  My Mom loves to make jewelry.

I'm having my tea from the china that my Dad and I picked out for Mom, on their 25th Wedding Anniversary.  The pattern is Berkshire, by Royal Doulton.  My Mom gave  it to me several years ago and I love it.  It's such a timeless pattern, don't you think?

I'm serving Date and Nut Bread,  turned into muffins.  I started making this recipe when I was in high school and my Mom always loved it.  She's made it so many times since then, that she probably knows it by heart.  The recipe can be found here.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom!  I love you!!
I am sharing this with these lovely parties:

The Berkshire china is lovely (our wedding china is also Royal Doulton), and your date and nut pumpkins look delicious. Your Knockout Roses sure are pretty; my roses have buds but they haven't opened yet.

  15. I think it is so nice that you have the 25th anniversary china now and it is a pretty pattern. You have brought back a memory of my mother's date and nut loaf as we called it - it was my job to cut up that block of hard dates.
Lovely photos of you with your mother.

  18. Does your Mom still have that hat? And if so, do you think she wants to sell it? I love those hats from back in the day! I just loved it when women dressed so nicely with lovely overcoats, hats, gloves...it was so sophisticated and feminine.

It's cool to see your Mom out on the dance floor cuttin' a rug! You were looking mighty sharp there, too, young lady! Beautiful dress!

I wish our local Home Goods stores had that same bust. I've been looking for one just like that. Everything they've had the last couple of seasons, though, have been really cheesy looking. They had a bust of David that looked almost clown-like. David was kind of cross-eyed and just had a really goofy look on his overly-chiseled face. That thing would've scared me every time I looked at it!!!

Happy Mother's Day to both you and your Mom!

Hmmm.... I DO have a teacup in a pattern called Duchess here. If I only had the time. (I'm trying to get out of town tomorrow AM for a very, very, important occasion.
