Canning Jar Decor

Carlene's is in a rustic pail.

The inspiration for my rustic canning jar came from Carlene at organizedclutterqueen.blogspot.com/. I saw this cute decoration that she made back in the Fall and knew that eventually I wanted to make one for Christmas. I found the candle at a local shop and went to work. I had the canning jar, some leftover fake snow, stuck a sprig of greenery in and a pinecone, sprinkled some more snow, put the candle in and voila, a cute, homey decoration for my kitchen.


Mine is in a basket, with a sprig of greenery, a pine cone, the battery operated  candle and
some faux snow, surrounded by mini ornaments.

Easter Kitchen Table Decor

When I saw Ann from Sutton Place's post  on a nesting bunny, I knew what I wanted to make.  I already had bought this cute bunny from HomeGoods, which I bought when  I saw how well it blended with my quilted table topper.  I used my grandmother's basket, which is probably at least 80 years old and filled it first with bubble wrap (to keep the table clean!!) and then moss from the Dollar Tree. I sprouted some pink flowers (50% off) from Hobby Lobby to add some color. I also changed the bow out  on the bunny with some bright pink tulle.

Last year, on a visit to Home Goods,  I found the lime green polka dot salad plates!! I love buying salad plates to go with my Mikasa English Countryside dinnerware. 

 I made this Big Star quilt for my Easter kitchen table. I loved the bunny pattern and the bright pink polka dots to coordinate.

A shamrock plant is my centerpiece

I love decorating for St. Patrick's Day and making a special meal.  The only European country my hubby & I have been to, is Ireland, and it was our dream vacation. The countryside in Ireland is just a gorgeous patchwork of  shades of green.  I thought I'd share our St.  Paddy's Day table, which also includes various green colors.

Dishes from Christmas Past

 When I pull out my Christmas dishes every year, I have such fond memories! Years ago, when we first moved to Texas, my dear hubby & I scrounged around, after Christmas,  to many Target stores,  to collect a set. We both absolutely LOVE these dishes!! My daughter & I found even more to add to the collection.  Sadly, Target quit selling them,  but  at least I have ours!

Christmas Cheer

This is a vignette I have on my kitchen island. The cute chef snowman, with menu board,  was a gift from my daughter several years ago. The miniature tree is decorated with tiny, old-fashioned cooking utensils (again from my daughter) & I have a new Anthropologie candle (half price!!) in sweet vanilla cinnamon...Mmmmm!!!

My Chef Santa stands on the counter above my sink, along with my sugar mold with candles & some greenery. Again, the Santa was a gift from my dear daughter! The Santa bell was a gift from my MIL many years ago.

Faux Pumpkin Makeover

After seeing adorable pumpkins on Confessions of a Plate Addict, where she was inspired by Country Living, I had to give them a try.  I hadn't used Mod Podge in years, having done numerous projects back in the 1960's-1970's.   I was anxious to try it again!!  A friend & I got together & we did these cute cheetah print pumpkins.  The faux pumpkins were from Michael's and the tissue paper was from Hobby Lobby.  Of course, Mod Podge can be found at either of those places.  We tore the tissue paper into strips, put Mod Podge on the back & stuck them on.  You really need strips to fit onto the pumpkin.  After they were all glued on, then a final coat of Mod Podge went over the entire pumpkin.  For added embellishment, we added some decorative elements.  For a good tutorial, check the above site.  I think the cheetah pumpkin turned out pretty cute!
