Pumpkin Shaped Cheese Ball

My fun aqua group had our Halloween luncheon.

My contribution was this pumpkin shaped cheese ball.  My pumpkin platter that came from Mikasa years ago was perfect for displaying it.  I used potato sticks from the Dollar Tree to resemble straw and placed the cheese ball on top.

The weekend before I was with my two youngest granddaughters while my son and DIL were in Durango, CO.  Hayden and I decorated cookies and she entertained me by playing her guitar, of which she is taking lessons.  We played lots, and lots of games, like Chutes and Ladders, Old Maid, a Princess Jewelry game, millions of rounds of UNO, and she wrote her birthday thank you notes.  Harper was a busy girl, with a Fall Festival at her school, cheerleading for the football team, and a puppy yoga birthday party.  My costume for the party was borrowed from my DIL Kristen, and I was the Ultimate Warrior and I had to paint my face with Kids' Washable paints.  I won for the funniest category!

Pumpkin Shaped Cheese Ball

You can use your favorite cheese ball recipe or try this one. I used potato sticks to resemble straw for the pumpkin to sit on. It would make a nice appetizer for Halloween or Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

  • 1- 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 1 Boursin cheese spread (I used Shallot and Chive )
  • 8 ounces of Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 packet of Ranch dressing mix (or to taste, or leave it out)
  • The stem of red, green, yellow or orange pepper for the stem of the pumpkin
  • Potato Sticks to resemble the straw or hay

Instructions

  1. Mix the cream cheese, Boursin cheese spread, the sharp cheddar and the dry Ranch dressing mix, to taste, until it's all creamy and well mixed with an electric mixer.
  2. Shape the mixture into a ball to resemble a pumpkin.
  3. Add the stem to the top of the pumpkin cheese ball, and push it in and and smooth the top around the stem. I used the end of a small wooden spoon to make grooves into the pumpkin cheese ball.
  4. Place the cheese ball onto some plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving time. This can be done the day before. When ready for serving, remove the cheese ball from the plastic wrap and place on top of the potato sticks, and surround with crackers and veggies.

Notes

Carrot sticks, celery, small peppers, etc. can also be used along with crackers for serving.

Thank you for your visit!  xo
