I'm easing into Autumn very slowly.
With temperatures in the high 90's, after having 52 days in the 100's, it's hard to get into the Fall spirit. I did buy a Croton to add some color to my patio, and it's doing very well.
My Royal Albert September teacup is in rotation on my tray of seasonal teacups.
These delicious treats are a reason to celebrate!
Yield: depends on the size of the cut

Peanut Butter Bars
These little bars are so easy and very, very tasty! I think a small bar goes a long way for a delicious treat. I actually made half of this recipe in a 9 x 9" pan.
Ingredients
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (my addition)
- 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 4 tablespoons peanut butter
Instructions
- Mix together graham cracker crumbs, confectioners’ sugar, butter, vanilla and 1 cup peanut butter in a medium bowl until well-blended.
- Press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 9x13-inch pan.
- Place chocolate chips and 4 tablespoons peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high, stirring every 15 seconds, until smooth.
- Spread mixture over crust.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares.
Notes
Allrecipes cut 12 bars from the recipe in a 9 x 13" pan, but that is way too big in my opinion! I did half of a recipe in a 9 x 9" pan and got 16 bars.
I spent some time with these two granddaughters over the weekend. Harper and I were ready for bed and after having some fun, and I went to Hayden's soccer game at noon in the 90 degree temperatures. Harper's cheerleading for the football team was cancelled due to the heat on artificial turf.
Thank you for your visit! xo

I'm sharing with these parties:

Oh we love peanut butter bars! These sound delicious. I hope it cools off for you soon.
ReplyDeleteFeels like fall here today, Kitty! Yesterday it was hazy, hot and humid, but apparently Mother Nature has decided that fall weather should arrive with fall! I hope it comes your way soon!!
ReplyDeleteOk yum on those bars!!!! We are differently into fall here. Hope you cool down in the next few weeks. You are the best grandmother to sit and cheer on Hayden. Have a good week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteLove your croton plant on your patio area! And appropriately your Royal Albert September cup fits right in with those yummy peanut butter bars. I do have that recipe, tho I have been known to make the frosting with just chocolate, butter and powdered sugar leaving out the peanut butter. The Captain thinks it tastes more like a peanut butter cup which is more to his 'liking'! Great pics of Hayden and Harper...I am sure they know how fortunate they are to have a grandmother like you. Hugs and stay cool dear one.🥰

We are supposed to start having a cool down tomorrow, right on time, but not soon enough for me! This brace gets so, so hot, I simply can't be out long without sweating. The peanut butter bars sound so good, Kitty! A criton should love your heat. Will told me a game played in TN yesterday was 156° on field, cleats were melting! That's just crazy!
ReplyDeletewe had two VERY strong rain storms (and you know haha) and it FINALLY brought some lower 60s cooler fall weather. It rained again this morning but not like the last two days - and it was so nice to go grab the hummer feeder to clean and freshen. My weird yellow one is still here but I haven't seen my red-throated one in a week so perhaps he left already. Peanut butter bars are one of my all time favs. Thanks for the recipe and inspo. And your grands - so cute. I hate you've had such an unbearable Texas summer and into now too. Better move you (and with your whole family this time) back here to Ohio. ♥
ReplyDeleteYour temps have been unbearable, Kitty! Ours have been in the upper 90’s more days than I can remember with hardly any rain. I love your September tea cup. I will be making the peanut butter bars, my grands will love them. Hayden and Harper are so cute and blessed to have a wonderful grandmother like you! Happy first day of autumn tomorrow!!
