How about a festive peanut blossom cookie for Valentine's Day? Isn't the sweet cherub TV art so adorable? Let's enjoy some cookies, candy, and tea by my fireplace. Can you see the heart reflection on my wall?! That was a fun surprise.
This beautiful cake stand was a gift from my dear friend, Joy, and it's even prettier in person. Would you like the heart cookies or the ones in the mini liners?
My favorite angels are gracing my table along with a favorite teapot and a Duchess teacup.
This checkered plate is one of my favorites and came from my my neighbor's garage sale, with five more.
I have this platter ready to go for my aqua friend's themed Galentine's party.

Peanut Blossoms
Peanut Blossoms are always a favorite in my family. This year I decided to try some in mini liners and some baked on the cookie sheet. Using the liners, prevents cracking of the cookie, and is a pretty presentation. Either way, they're so good!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- white or colored sugar for rolling
- 48 milk chocolate candy kisses or chocolate heart, that are unwrapped
Instructions
- Beat peanut butter, shortening, both sugars, milk, egg and vanilla together in an electric mixer until creamy and smooth.
- Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Gradually add to the peanut butter mixture to form a smooth dough. Cover the bowl and refrigerate it for about 1 hour. It's easier to shape into balls by doing this.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Put the sugar into a shallow bowl, starting with about 1/4 cup, adding more as needed. Scoop the dough into 1" balls (I used my small cookie scoop), and then roll the balls into the sugar and place about 1-1/2" apart on parchment lined baking sheets, or use mini muffin tins that are lined with mini liners and put the dough balls in these.
- Bake in the oven for 6 minutes; take the cookies out and press the kiss or heart into the cookie and then bake an additional 3 minutes.
- Cool on wire racks until chocolate begins to harden.
Notes
These cookies are good during anytime of the year by changing up the colored sugar.
Cissy came over and we baked artisan bread together and played cards.
Thank you for your visit! xo
I'm sharing with these parties:

I made these a lot during Valentine's week using the Dove heart candies too. They're always a hit!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've celebrated Valentine's day pretty much for the past three weeks with your tv art. This week's is my favorite. The teatime and treats and tableware are perfect. Your galentines will love the peanut blossoms. Your relationship with Cissy and how you spend quality time together warms my heart. I hope to nurture that with J. Happy Valentine's week, Kitty

ReplyDeletePerfect Kitty....just perfect is your lovely Valentine/Galentine table and you know how I love your TV art. I made those cookies using the Hershey's kisses but didn't think to use the Dove's chocolates (Duh! and they are my favorite chocolate, especially the dark chocolate)...I will be making more of those cookies for my Bible Study Group this Friday and will use the liners to eliminate the 'cracking'. Thanks for the tip. Stay warm dear one. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI think they must all taste delicious, paper liners or plain and I'm sure your Aqua class friends will love them, along with all your sweet Valentine decor. The cherub screen saver is adorable! I'm so impressed that Cissy loves to bake with you. I wish I would have had at least one granddaughter but it's also fun when your grandsons want to play golf with you too! ♥
