Oatmeal Candied Chippers

It's a beautiful day for enjoying the Fall weather.

It's beautiful at least  for now, but we are about to take a 40 degree dip in temperatures.  My table is clad with a mini houndstooth pattern that I used long ago for part of a fabric that was used for a comforter that I made for Avery.  The flowers are from a surprise bouquet from my grandson, Caiden, when he stopped by earlier in the week.  Love that kid!

Oh how loved this darling basket patterned teapot is with a bounty of harvest.

Autumn's Delight Johnson Bros teacup is a favorite for Fall.

This tea is a perfect Fall blend!  Thank you, Margie!

Yield: 4 dozen
Author: Kitty, but recipe is adapted from my Treasury of Cookies and Brownies Cookbook
Oatmeal Candied Chippers

Oatmeal Candied Chippers

These cookies were baked for my church's bake sale.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups uncooked rolled oats
  • 1 and 1/3 cups candy coated chocolate pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line cookies sheets with parchment paper; set aside.
  2. Beat butter, and both sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add milk, egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour, salt and baking soda. Beat until well combined. Stir in oats and candy coated chocolate pieces.
  3. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls (I used my mini scoop) onto prepared cookie sheets. At this point, you should chill or even freeze the scoops because it helps the cookies from spreading so much during baking.
  4. Bake for 12-13 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Let cookies stand 2 minutes on cookie sheets, and then remove them to wire racks to cool completely.

Three of my grandchildren have birthdays within a week.  Harper turned 11 on the 5th, Connor turned 25 on the 7th, and Riley will turn 22 on the 11th.

This Goldencrest Lemon Cypress tree was just planted this week, surrounded by some beautiful pansies.  It adds some brightness on my patio.  The tree smells so good when you rub your hands on it.  The tag stated that adults that garden live longer and have less stress.

Thank you for your visit!  xo

  3. Happy Monday Kitty, I’ve always admired your pretty basket teapot and Johnson Brothers Autumns Delight is a favorite pattern! We’re dropping 40 degrees today too and tomorrow’s going to be even colder, dipping down into the 20s. I bet your cookies were a hot seller at your church’s bake sale, they sound so good with the oats and M&Ms. Happy Birthday to your grands, everyone is growing up so quickly! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead ♥

  11. The autumn's delight tea cup is one of the prettiest I have ever seen. No wonder it is one of your favorites! May I ask where you find such unique and special tea flavors? I love coffee so much, but Kevin and I have been talking lately about getting into tea more!
