Let's enjoy a very easy cake today with a cup of Constant Comment Tea.
My table is covered with some doilies from my collection that I started in my 20's. The tiny teapot filled with baby's breath, was one that my beloved mom gave me, and the napkin is from my Great Late Aunt Kitty's collection. My little waterfall was out of commission for a week and I sure did miss the relaxing, soothing sound.
Easing into Fall, my Johnson Bros Harvest Time teacup adds such a pretty vintage charm.
This cake was one of the easiest cakes ever!

Simply Scrumptious Apple Cake
My son Mike gave me this cookbook that this recipe is from, and talk about an easy cake!!
Ingredients
- 1 package Angel Food cake mix (use a one-step angel food that requires only water). You do NOT add the water however.
- 1 can apple pie filling, regular of no-sugar added (I used kitchen shears to cut up the apples inside the can into smaller pieces)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking pan. with nonstick cooking spray.
- Combine DRY cake mix (remember, do not add the water), apple pie filling and cinnamon in a large bowl. Batter thickens up during mixing; do not overmix. Spread batter in the prepared pan; sprinkle with brown sugar and walnuts.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown. Cool 20-30 minutes.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce, or whipped cream, if desired.
Have you tried these Murasaki Sweet Potatoes from Trader Joe's? I heard about them and every time I went they were not in, except for this last time. They are really good! They are purple with white center and sweet.
Since I'm into quick and easy, I sauteed some blackened shrimp to serve with the sweet potatoes.
Top left corner, was lunch on my son Tim's birthday, with Julie, my daughter-in-law, and granddaughter Ella. Right corner, is granddaughter Cissy, my daughter, Molly, and me, when we took Cissy back to college after a visit.Middle is Ella on her volleyball team, and dressed for 9th grade homecoming.Bottom is granddaughter Harper who came in 1st place in a Mountain Biking race in Tyler, Texas. As you can see, she's the smallest one!
Thank you for your visit! xo
I'm sharing with these parties:

Kitty, the cake really looks good! All the vintage items are really cozy, love how you remember the back story on each of them. Your life is so full and busy with family happenings, and I'm sure you wouldnt have it any other way. I love reading about them. Hopefully your fountain is fine now, and Mike listens to his mom!🧡
ReplyDeleteOh Kitty what a great post today. Love the easy cake recipe...you know I am always in need of something different to serve my Bible Study ladies each Friday and this fits the bill for sure. And I have everything on hand so I get to use up my surplus pantry items (which I am trying to do as it has gotten away from me) and I find myself looking at expiration dates a bit more. Your waterfall not working for awhile....ugh! I also understand as I have one in my courtyard where I often sit for my daily devotions as well as meals with the Captain. I miss it if I forget to flip the button inside the house before I go out. Love the pics of your sweet family and the sweet memories of your napkin and teapot. Hugs and Blessings my friend. 🙏🏻🥰🙏🏻🥰.
