We've had some great weather after some storms here.
It's nice to take advantage of enjoying my patio without the brutal heat. My large lady vase is sporting some pretty flowers that pick up the color in my teacup.
It's so nice to enjoy a cup of hot tea after drinking iced tea for most of the summer. This blend is one of my favorites. The description for Tower of London is a Chinese black tea, stirred with pieces of stone fruit, then finished with oil of bergamot and honey flavor. This blend is reminiscent of Elizabethan preserves.

Rock Star Bars
This recipe was given to Karli by Crave Cookies, and they are so good! With two kinds of chocolate, toffee bits, pretzels and flakey sea salt, they make for a flavor explosion!
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chunks
- 3/4 cup crushed pretzels
- 3/4 cup toffee bits
- flakey sea salt, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer or with an electric hand mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until light in color and fluffy in texture. This will take about 2 minutes.
- Scrape the sides and add in the egg and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
- Next, add the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Now you will add in all of the mix-ins– the milk chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, pretzels and toffee bits, and mix until evenly distributed.
- Finally, press the dough into the prepared 9×13 pan and sprinkle the top with sea salt.
- Bake at 350 for 15-21 minutes or until the edges and the top begin to turn golden brown. My bars took about 21 minutes.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting. Enjoy!
Notes
You can make this recipe into cookies if you prefer.
It was a busy week around here, and I'm grateful! Ella won in both her volleyball games this week and scored 5 aces! Top right photos is Caiden with Elizabeth, his girlfriend, who I took out for lunch to celebrate her birthday at Jason's Deli. Middle photo is watching Harper at her cheer instruction, and then Kevin took us to the Mushroom House that I had read about in D Magazine. Bottom left is me with Harper and Hayden, and then Hayden took the picture on the right of Kevin, me, and Harper.
Happy Birthday to my granddaughter, Ella, who turns 15 today!
Thank you for your visit! xo

The bars sound so good. I am going to make these for my next girlfriend party. I love when they can be made in one pan. I learned that putting sea salt on Chocolate Chip cookies right before they come out of the oven brings out the chocolate sweetness and it does really make the cookies taste different and good. The stuff you learn on the cooking shows lol! Have a great week Kitty. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteKitty I adore your September tea cup....AND the rock star bars that look so easy. Happy birthday to Ella and blessings to your wonderful family who include you in so many activities. Mine live so far away that I have to use facetime (which isn't the same thing) to keep in touch. But the family love is there just the same. Stay cool...the weather is changing for sure. Hugs.❤️ Kari @ Me and My Captain
