Today I'm having tea with my Rosina teacup that I received awhile back for Stephanie's teacup exchange at The Enchanting Rose. I cut some bougainvillea vine because it matches the flowers on my cup perfectly.
When I went to my nephew's wedding in Arizona back in March, bougainvillea vines were blooming everywhere. I bought one this Spring and have it in a pot on my patio. I'm hoping that I can keep it. I love their papery blossoms with the tiny flowers that burst forth inside of them.
Magic Marshmallow Crescent Puffs
This recipe was a winner of the Pillsbury Bake-Off back in 1969. I started teaching Home Ec in 1970 and included this recipe for the students to make. I used to make it for my own kids and now the grandkids enjoy them. They are magical because the marshmallow melts and forms a gooey center. Nuts are good sprinkled on top, but kids seem to like cinnamon chips or chocolate chips. I hope you try this winner of a recipe.
Rolls
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons Pillsbury BEST® all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
- 16 large marshmallows
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 to 3 teaspoons milk

Can you spot my play duck in my waterfall?
I am sharing this with:
I agree this sounds like a fun baking project to do with the kids Kitty! The flowers (easier to spell:@) are a pretty color and the duck has the best seat in the house! Happy Labor Day!
ReplyDeleteThese look just amazing Kitty! Lovely blog today and cannot wait to try these!
ReplyDeleteYou were a Home Ec teacher!!! Should have known that. :)
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious, Kitty. I may just have to give these a try as my husband would love them. Wait a minute... he loves anything sweet. :)
Your water fountain is beautiful, and yes I saw your cute little duck floating around the bubbles.
I liked your tea cup by the way, and those flowers were my favorite when my husband and I went to Hawaii. They were growing everywhere on the island. Lovely.
Enjoyed my visit here today.
I pray you are doing wonderful?
Joy to you, my friend.
Debbie
Oh, Kitty, do these ever look yummy, and full of calories! They sound like a real winner with the little ones and anyone with a sweet tooth. I'm not at all surprised to learn that you taught Home Ec. Home Ec was good for me because my mother never wanted us kids in the kitchen, believe it or not! So, everything I learned in the kitchen, came from school and winging it on my own. Love your water fountain and yes, I spied the little duckie. Thank you for sharing with us and joining me for Tea Time. Have a lovely week, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Sandi
Aha! It doesn't surprise me that your were a home ec teacher, the kids surely loved you! This recipe appears to be the beginning of s'mores, you could have been famous Kitty.
ReplyDeleteI do see your rubber ducky in the pond, hope a raccoon doesn't snatch it in hopes of a little dinner.
Those puffs look delicious!
ReplyDeleteDon't know what I like more, the magic crescents or your lovely waterfall with the cute rubber ducky! I did not know you were a Home Ec teacher, I bet your students loved your class.
ReplyDeleteOh those magic crescents sound wonderful Kitty! I'm sure some of your students are now making these with their families. Every time I see your water fountain, I envision you sitting by it and reading your magazines. The rubber ducky is so cute! xo
ReplyDeleteLove your waterfall - I'll bet you really enjoy sitting by it listening to the sound of the water. Your puffs look great, Kitty! You have a lot of fantastic recipes and I always enjoy visiting. Wish we could sit by your waterfall and have a cup of tea and goodie together!
ReplyDeleteI bet my sweet Ms. C. would LOVE to help make these, next time she sleeps over! Thanks for telling us about them, Kitty. They sound divine!
ReplyDeleteMy baby sis had bougainvillea growing all around her fence when she lived in AZ. One year, I cut some & made a flower arrangement for the dining room table. The next morning, we awoke to find almost every single petal had fallen off. I guess they don't make great cut bouquets!
Thanks for jogging that memory. She now lives in Maui, so no more bougainvillea...they sure don't grow in Ohio!!
I also didn't know you were a home ec teacher. Do they still teach that I wonder? Even though my mom taught me a lot, I still enjoyed my semester of home ec. Those marshmallow crescent puffs look so good, and a fun project for kids. I think I'd like the choc chips best too. Your little duck looks very happy :)
ReplyDeleteLovely...just lovely!! The recipe sounds amazing too. Thanks for sharing. Pinning!!
ReplyDeleteI love Pillsbury Bake-Off recipes Kitty, I hadn't seen this one before! Your teacup is so pretty and I have long admired those pink papery blooms of bougainvillea. I'm not surprised to learn you were a Home Ec teacher with all the baking you do :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet teacup. I LOVE bougainvilla. When I lived in Puerto Rico and California we always had the vines on our patio covers.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, Kitty! I love your duck in the waterfall ... I have several ducks that I play with. ;) ;)
ReplyDelete(supposed to be for the grandson, but I think I enjoy them the most). Your Rosina teacup is wonderful ... how lovely that it came to live with you in a swap! Bougainvilla are so pretty. Happy Tea Day!
Hi Kitty,
ReplyDeleteYour Rosina teacup is so pretty today and I hope that your lovely flowering bougainvillea survives. Some plants are so challenging to care for. The sound of waterfalls is wonderfully relaxing. Have a Happy Week! Take care, Karen
Those look wonderful!... and such pretty pictures, too. So nice to visit your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteAll your baked things are so wonderful Kitty. I love it that you share your recipes and I think soon all our kitchens will smell better when it cools off more and people get baking!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so good. I just love the Rosina tea cup. Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteThese look so good, Kitty and so easy! Perfect for teaching children to bake. Your ducky looks like he is having a great time. Love your flowers ( I am not even going to try and spell it!) - wish we could grow them here. They do look like paper! So pretty on your table with the tea-cup. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteDear Kitty, always a pleasure to visit and see what you are baking. Gooey is great! What a delight to share with you grandkids things you made for your own children. Love your peaceful waterfall. The little ducky is so darn cute. xo
ReplyDeleteBougainvillea reminds me of my mother, she loved it so, and I thought it was only a California plant, I hope yours makes it Kitty! I love anything with crescent rolls, so I know this is divine!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Hi Kitty, thanks again for another yummy recipe! This one will be fun to do with the grandkids. I I've always loved the Bougainvlllea vine. I bought one years ago while we were in Florida and brought it home, but it didn't like our winters, even in the house!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Nancy
This sounds like a fun recipe and I love the cup. Everything taste better in a pretty cup.
ReplyDeleteMadonna
How fun would it have been to had Home Ec from you? Our teacher was a crab and no fun at all! Nevertheless, she didn't steer me away from loving it all.
ReplyDeleteThese sound so fun. I have many recipes we love from my kids' Home Ec teachers. You never forget someone that teaches you to cook!
I spotted the duck!
ReplyDeleteAnd these sound delicious. I'm thinking that they would have a s'mores taste if you used the chocolate chips. I'm pinning this. (I pin a lot of stuff from here. Did you know that? You have become my personal Betty Crocker. )
Cute duck, my friend :) These puffs look divine and sound amazing! You always share incredible recipes, dear Kitty! Love and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteDelicious looking puffs! Yum! Sweet Bougainvillea bouquet. My Mom had a huge one. She was always cutting it back, it was kind of a dangerous process due to those big ol' thorns they have. Someone needs to come up with a thornless variety. ;)
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great weekend!
*hugs*deb
Hi Kitty! Those puffs look delicious! I see the duck ;). You're water feature is great. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI love these kind of recipes...can't wait to get to the store and buy all the ingredients.
ReplyDeleteI do indeed, see the duckie. :)
Oh yummy Kitty! I love the flowers and would like to try that one next spring. It's so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great recipe.
Linda
Hi Kitty,
ReplyDeleteI do spot your precious little duck in the waterfall, does that mean I can have an extra magic Marshmallow Crescent Puffs? I would sure enjoy those puffs in such an inviting spot! Are you getting some rain today, we have had a nice little shower and it is so nice. Leonard and I are watching this "pitiful" Cowboys football game, enough said! Thank you so much for sharing this awesome post with Full Plate Thursday and hope you are having a fantastic weekend!
Come Back Soon,
Miz Helen
