Melting Snowmen Cupcakes

 
 My Snowman tea is featuring the Chubby Snowman  that I made from a bath towel last year.  The directions can be found here.  The cute snowman mug for my eggnogg'n tea is a gift from my daughter.   The snowman on my electric candle is a cover that my sister sent to me. A little powdered sugar on the plate enhances the snowy effect.

When I saw Mary's Melting Snowmen Cookies, I thought it would be fun to do the same thing, only with cupcakes.  This was a fun, tasty project to do with my grandchildren.  One of Mary's readers had suggested to use the Reese's peanut butter bells for the top hats and they worked perfectly. I used chocolate cake mix and a white frosting.  M &M's or chocolate chips work for the eyes and a sliver of orange, cut from leftover candy corn, works for the nose.


Oops, it seems my "help" loved the Reese's peanut butter bells a little too much.  I had to use a mini peanut butter cup for this last cupcake.  I hope you can try this fun, foodie project with your little ones this winter.

    I love snowmen, cold or room temperature, they are so much fun to use in decorating. Love the cupcakes and that mug, too. Happy New Year, Kitty!

    I like the snowman theme for your tea today, right down to the yummy looking melting snowmen cupcakes. Our granddaughter made snowmen with the round white powdered sugar donuts for her class, sticking in eyes, noses and a mouth on all 30 by herself.

    Kitty, your cupcakes are adorable and I just know you and your g'children had a blast making them. I love your towel snowman and the mug is a cute gift.     How adorable! Great minds think alike...I bought some chocolate bells on sale today, with just this idea in mind. I decorate with snowmen during Jan. & thought I would make some for the grands.
    Love the idea of powdered sugar to replicate snowflakes. I never would have thought of that!!
    You WILL be seeing some of these on my blog soon.
    Love that little light...so charming & comforting. I try to have at least ONE little light on somewhere in the house as night falls. Cozy against the cold & snow. Wait till you see our snowy pictures in tomorrows snow. You'll be glad you live in TX! LOL

    Now that's just cute. The best part is that snowmen (in my world at least) don't have to go away after Christmas. They are sort of an all purpose winter theme. I still have time to make some if I have a mind to.

    I have missed not only blogging myself but visiting and being inspired and motivated by my invisible friends. I'm sorry to have been such a horrible blog friend lately. I hope you had a Christmas of peace. I thought of you so many times during the season and I would pray that you and the family were feeling loved and watched over as you walked through the mine field of this first Christmas.

    This is a great idea to do with grand-children, thanks for the idea and sharing it, glad the idea came to you as a cookie. I'm heading south to see my grand-children the ones who get overjoyed when it has a dusting of snow. lol I've been sharing some PEI pictures with them and they can't imagine all this snow.
