Yee-haw do I ever have an easy dip to share!
It's still in the 100's here in Texas, and it's iced tea on the patio with some veggies, chips and Candied Cowboy Dip. My little mom's picnic cloth is on my table.
This pretty pitcher belonged to my Aunt Gertrude, who was my paternal grandmother's sister.
I love sweet tea, and Luzianne and Lipton both make sweet tea bags that are zero calorie. I only use 2 teabags for 2 quarts of boiling water and it's plenty sweet enough and so refreshing on a hot day with ice.
These stems are from my Turk's Cap plant, which do really well here in Texas.
Yield: 2 cups
Candied Cowboy Dip
I saw this recipe recently and it has only 3 ingredients; my kind of summer recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 pint sour cream
- 1 packet Ranch seasoning mix
- 2-3 tablespoons candied jalapenos
Instructions
- Put the sour cream in a mixing bowl, and sprinkle in the packet of ranch seasoning and stir until smooth.
- Roughly chop the jalapenos and stir them into the dip.
- Put in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
- Serve with tortilla chips, but I chopped up some veggies for added nutrition and color.

ReplyDeleteOh the sweet memories you instill in me Kitty! Years ago, when I 'canned' a lot, I made candied jalapenos along with chow chow and chile sauce and all kinds of pickles. Which reminds me, have you ever tried Wickles pickles? They are a favorite of the Captain as he loves 'spicy'.
ReplyDeleteYour tea pitcher reminds me also of my Mothers yellow (Madrid Federal Glass)depression glass pitcher that was always full of iced tea during the summer. For some reason we only drank iced tea in the summer which we sugar sweetened each glass to our personal liking. Of course there would be at least a half inch of sugar in the bottom of my glass which I would stir and stir to dissolve. LOL. My late husband and I lived in the Dallas area for several years so I remember the steamy heat...much like our "sauna" heat here in Florida after a afternoon rain. Stay cool my friend...love the outdoor table setting. (we eat outside as often as we can)💕🌴☕️☀️
I could do with some of that tea now ... it's very hot here in the UK.

WOW over 100 degrees there. Trade ya all this rain for some of your sunshine. The weather for this world has been so cruel. NOW I love your momma's picnic tablecloth - it's so vibrant and fun for your wonderful table. And I learned two things from your post: something called candied japapenos......and that there is sweet tea bags. WOW! I don't sweeten tea (trust me, it's a good thing lol) but it sure is good to know for parties and such. I will have to check that out. SO many love a nice refreshing sweet tea - and I always make sugar syrup for them but if I can save the step (and they all use Stevia so shouldn't be a problem) I am excited about that.
