My granddaughter, Hayden, and I made these adorable turkey treats. I was able to be with Hayden last week one day when she didn't have preschool. She always brings me joy and is so excited to see me. My tea is with my turkey that my late Great Aunt Kitty painted years ago. You've seen the big star quilt topper that I made years ago, too.
This is a favorite Fall teapot that I found in Ohio one year at a thrift store.
Hayden had such a fun time making these treats, and she helped me raid the pantry for some red for the wattle (we called it the gobbler!). I brought all the other supplies. Hayden liked eating all the trimmings and a few eyeballs.
Yield: However many you want to make
Nutter Butter Turkeys
These are a fun project for kids to do for Thanksgiving
Ingredients
- Nutter Butter Cookies
- Chocolate candy melts, or almond bark, or even chocolate chips
- Candy corn
- Candy googly eyes
- Some kind of red candy for the wattle
Instructions
- Have all you supplies ready on parchment or wax paper.
- Melt your chocolate of choice .
- Dip or spread the chocolate on the top half of the Nutter Butter cookie.
- Lay the cookie on top of three candy corn that are peeking out from the top, as feathers.
- Place your googly eyes on and the candy corn beak that has the yellow trimmed off onto the chocolate. Add the red wattle on the side of the beak.
Hayden and I also made some mini "pumpkin pie" appetizers to trick her Daddy that works from home. We love playing with food! I would've used whipped cream cheese for "gluing the pieces together, but we made do with hummus that they had.

Mini "Pumpkin Pie" Appetzers
These are a cute, fun appetizer for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients
- Triscuit Thin Crisps that are shaped like a triangle, or pita crackers
- Chicken in a Biskit crackers (I used Great Value from Walmart called Chick'n Bites
- Cheddar Cheese
- Whipped Cream Cheese, or even hummus to "glue" the pieces together
Instructions
- Cut the cheese to fit your triangular cracker.
- "Glue" the cheese to the cracker with some whipped cream cheese, or even hummus.
- "Glue" the chicken Biskit to the back of the "pie" for the crust.
- Add a dab of whipped cream cheese to mimic the whipped cream cheese. We used a small piece of a mozzarella mini ball, and Hayden thought to use a piece of popcorn that she had been munching on, to mimic the whipped cream Pretty clever, huh?
After all the fun in the kitchen, we headed outside to the swing set that has a playhouse on top. Yes, I climbed in with Hayden, and we played with wooden dolls; she was the bride and I was the little sister, who was also the flower girl, and also the "husband" that was a stuffed bunny. We got married, danced and took the little sister home with us. The next morning, we made oatmeal, pancakes, and orange juice. The new bride, called the husband "sweetheart", and she said that she was going to "tidy up the house", and told me, the sweetheart to "do the clothes". What fun it is to play with little ones! It was 85 degrees that day and we then headed inside and played with baby dolls up in the playroom.
Granddaughter Ella had a volleyball tournament and her team came in runner-up!
Thank you for your visit! xo
Those snacks are adorable and it sounds like you had a wonderful day with Hayden.
