Every other month, a group of friends that met through water aerobics, gets together for a lunch to celebrate birthdays, and friendship.
We started this for my birthday, after my beloved hubby passed away. My friends were so thoughtful to do this. We used to get together at restaurants, but then we decided that we could talk and visit better at peoples' houses. Some people do not do water aerobics any more, but they are still included.
My theme was of course a Tea Party! I bought flowers from Trader Joe's and fixed them inside some pretty teapots. We always use paper products for ease in clean up, but I used my pretty teacups, and put out so many choices of teabags and tea pyramids for the ladies to choose.
There were 19 ladies in all and I set up three tables. I have to admit that I really enjoy the hospitality part and setting things up.
Here's the last table and I used my late Aunt Kitty's cut work tablecloth for this one.
Everyone brings something to share. I made the mini dirt cakes for my offering. We had mini chicken salad croissants, pimento cheese tea sandwiches, egg rolls, cheese and crackers, hummus and pita chips, veggie pizza squares, veggies and dip, shrimp and cocktail sauce, and more desserts. One lady brought homemade macarons. We have ladies from that are from Viet Nam, Italy, and Columbia.
Our one friend in the front right has recently completed chemo, and we were glad that she came.
Here's another group of ladies....
.... and another group. We sing to the birthday girls and we always say a prayer before we begin our lunch. I think everyone enjoyed themselves, and some stayed and visited on my patio by my waterfall.
I'm ending with this picture of Hayden that my daughter-in-law, Kristen sent to me. Hayden, if you remember has very curly hair. She got a haircut and a style, and Kristen said that she looked like a mini me. I have to agree! Lol!!
Thank you for your visit! xo
I am sharing this with:
How very special to celebrate everybody's birthday each year. You all certainly did "par-tea", Kitty. Everything looked lovely and joyous with your exquisite touches. Sending a special hug to the lady who has just finished chemo. As for Hayden, that is one seriously bedazzling bow in her pretty hair.

ReplyDeleteAnd your mini me looks beautiful as her grammy. ♥♥
What a lovely party, Kitty. I always enjoy reading about get togethers. Everyone looks very happy to be sitting around your pretty table. The food looks delicious and it's such a help when everyone brings something to contribute rather than doing it all yourself. Hayden is definitely a mini-Kitty!
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have a huge group of friends that get together each month. It looks like a fun tea party and the food and tea sounds perfect. Hayden is such a cutie! Enjoy the rest of the week and have a happy Mother's Day Kitty.
ReplyDeleteKitty - this looks like such a fun group! I feel like this sort of gathering is not happening very often these days and you inspire me to look for ways to do this myself more often. I love that you set up different small tables - I can't always fit everyone one large table in my small house but if I did small ones . . . that might work! Everyone looks like they thoroughly enjoyed their time!
ReplyDeletePrecious time and beautiful tables.Love those gorgeous tablecloths. Hayden is adorable like her Grandma!
ReplyDeleteWhat an enchanting idea! I remember when your darling husband passed a few years back (time has really flown), and I know that time was so difficult. That this tradition had its genesis in the wake of his passing and still goes on speaks to many virtues. I am just floored to see how many ladies participate and to what level you all rise to make it a happy and engaging occasion. The lady who just finished chemo...wow! I'm glad she was well enough to join you. What a heartwarming post!!! Happy Mother's Day to you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tea party Kitty, and such a wonderful tradition of friends meeting monthly to visit and celebrate birthdays! I agree, setting up and planning is just as much fun as the gathering itself! Your Hayden “mini me” is adorable!

ReplyDeleteThis reminded me of my Mom's tea Parties - so many different tea cups! Your grandaughter is precious! Happy Mother's day
ReplyDeleteThese ladies sure that fun and this was their special day. I am sure they loved it all and felt very pampered at these lovely tables.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful group of ladies! It's so nice that you all still get together to celebrate birthdays and what a wonderful hostess you are!
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention how adorable Hayden is with her new haircut and style :)
ReplyDeleteHello Kitty
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your discretion about your meetings. How beautiful your tables and I really liked the teapots and cups!
Since 1980, I have met quarterly with a group of former Mathematics internship teachers/supervisors. We usually visit museums or exhibitions and then have lunch in restaurants.
Unfortunately, over the years, the number has dwindled. We are currently 5.
Because of Covid 19 we went to monthly meetings through Zoom. But let's hope we get back to it soon!
Good week
