Cabra Castle, Ireland |
Teapot is from Ireland. My sister bought us the book. |
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 t. + 1/8 t. baking powder
4 T. margarine (I used butter)
1/3 c. dried fruit
1/2 c. milk
Mix the flour, sugar and baking powder together in a bowl. Cut in the margarine or butter. Add the dried fruit and mix. Add the milk and knead until all flour is incorporated. Pat the dough out into a circle and then cut into eighths.
Bake the scones in a 350 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes.
Blarney Castle plate is from Johnson Brothers, at Homegoods. |
In my Irish Blessing Journal, I recorded our daily events. I used some doilies for my tray placemat. |

ReplyDeleteThese are such fun vacation memories, and the scones must be wonderful! Thanks for sharing that recipe!
ReplyDeleteLovely and treasured photos. Travel is so much fun. There is so many wonderful places to visit. Thanks for sharing this fabulous vacation.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your memories Kitty, and I'm with you. I would not kiss a wall millions of other mouths have touched either. Ewww! There's a limit in how much culture I'll take in, and I guess you know what my limit is. Love your dishes. I bought some similar ones earlier this year, but haven't shown them on my blog yet. Hope you've been doing well this summer.
ReplyDeleteI want to go to Ireland. Enjoyed your photos and your tea tray. Those scones look great.
ReplyDeleteKitty, I've not been to Ireland, but would love to visit one day. Don't think I could kiss the stone either. ;-)
ReplyDeleteKitty, your personal pictures are so perfect for this post. I feel the same way about kissing that stone!!! Beautiful plate with delicious looking scones!! I have a lot of German cookbooks and they are all by weight - where I need to remember an American lb is 450 grams and a European lb is 500 grams! Another recipe to give a try!! be blessed. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteNice trip! Scones look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't kiss the stone either! LOL!
Katherine

What a great place that would be to stay. I'm with you on the not kissing part...Eeesh!!! That must have been a fabulous vacation. I would love to go there. :)
ReplyDeleteSO cool, Kitty!!! I'm with you on kissing that Blarney Stone. I don't think I want to come in contact with quite so much DNA as that!!! Ireland is a country I have long wanted to visit, but I'm a wimp about flying...so I guess that's out! My Mom and my niece have both been there and loved it. It would be cool to see all the castles and the countryside and to just hear the men talk! :-) I always think of Colin Farrell!!!! I'm sure that if I ever go to Ireland I will have to budget a lot of money for shipping back to the U.S. of all kinds of fabulous stuff!!!!!!! You were very wise to ask for that scone recipe. You never know if you don't ask!
ReplyDeleteI bet that was a great trip! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteKitty, What a fun vacation with your hubby. I always check out the pictures when they include red transferware, and yours is perfect with the scones and cookbook. I can almost smell them coming off the screen. Happy Summer. ~CJ

Just warm with butter?....or shall I do a glaze?
Is this recipe as easy as it sounds???
