Cabra Castle, Ireland |

Teapot is from Ireland. My sister bought us the book. |
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 t. + 1/8 t. baking powder
4 T. margarine (I used butter)
1/3 c. dried fruit
1/2 c. milk
Mix the flour, sugar and baking powder together in a bowl. Cut in the margarine or butter. Add the dried fruit and mix. Add the milk and knead until all flour is incorporated. Pat the dough out into a circle and then cut into eighths.
Bake the scones in a 350 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes.

My hubby kissing the Blarney Stone, where his hat fell off. We found it later, hanging on the side of the castle!! Wimpy me "kissing" the Blarney Castle wall (sorry, but I couldn't kiss a stone where a million people have kissed....Ewww!!) One of the courtyards at Cabra Castle. ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your memories Kitty, and I'm with you. I would not kiss a wall millions of other mouths have touched either. Ewww! There's a limit in how much culture I'll take in, and I guess you know what my limit is. Love your dishes. I bought some similar ones earlier this year, but haven't shown them on my blog yet. Hope you've been doing well this summer.

I have a lot of German cookbooks and they are all by weight - where I need to remember an American lb is 450 grams and a European lb is 500 grams! Another recipe to give a try!! be blessed. xo marlis

ReplyDeleteSO cool, Kitty!!! I'm with you on kissing that Blarney Stone. I don't think I want to come in contact with quite so much DNA as that!!! Ireland is a country I have long wanted to visit, but I'm a wimp about flying...so I guess that's out! My Mom and my niece have both been there and loved it. It would be cool to see all the castles and the countryside and to just hear the men talk! :-) I always think of Colin Farrell!!!! I'm sure that if I ever go to Ireland I will have to budget a lot of money for shipping back to the U.S. of all kinds of fabulous stuff!!!!!!! You were very wise to ask for that scone recipe. You never know if you don't ask!

Oh Kitty, wish I went to Ireland too! Someday I will, I have that on mind for a next trip. i love your dishes, they're just right for this fabulous destination!
