It's hard to believe that we've had only one 100 degree day in the Dallas area so far this year! It's still in the high 90's and even though I've set my tea outside, I won't be staying long. My sweet tablecloth that I dearly love is from my forever friend, Joy.
I had to show my new Fitz and Floyd English Garden Birdhouse Berry teapot. I know, I know, (hangs head in shame!) I needed a new teapot like I need a hole in my head, but I fell in love with it and got a good deal on ebay. It's so pretty, isn't it?
This Jim Shore angel was in a basket when my beloved hubby passed away 12 years ago, on August 16th.
My Johnson Bros Strawberry Fair teacup looks pretty on the table.

Millionaire Pie
My dear Mother-in-law used to make this pie and I found this recipe which is similar.
Ingredients
- 1-14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 1-8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 1-8 ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed (recipe called for 12 ounces, but 8 seemed fine)
- 1-20 ounce can crushed pineapple, very well drained
- a squeeze of lemon juice
- 1 and 1/2 cups chopped pecans
- 2 prepared graham cracker crusts
- whipped cream and maraschino cherry for garnish
Instructions
- Blend sweetened condensed milk and cream cheese together in a large bowl. Gently fold in the whipped topping. Stir in the crushed pineapple, squeeze of lemon and pecans.
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crusts. Chill the pies for about 3-4 hours until set.
- If desired, serve with some whipped cream and a cherry on top.
Notes
You can add about a cup of shredded coconut and some chopped maraschino cherries into the filling.
The pies freeze very well, too.
It's hard to believe that these sticky ham and cheese sliders have never been shared on my blog. They are so good, and are perfect for a tea party, lunch, or any gathering.
Yield: 12

Sticky Ham and Cheese Sliders
These little buns are so good! You can change up the lunchmeat and cheese to your liking. Serve them at your next gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (I used 1 tablespoon brown sugar + 1 tablespoon hot honey)
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1 package small sweet Hawaiian buns
- 1 pound sliced ham (I didn't use that much)
- 1 pound of Swiss cheese (I didn't use that much)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring butter, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and poppy seeds to a boil. Lower heat and let simmer for a few minutes. Set aside.
- Slice buns in half and assemble the sandwiches by putting the desired amount of ham and cheese. Place in a baking dish where they can fit snugly, and pour the sauce all over making sure that they are all coated. Cover with foil and let sit in the fridge for one hour or overnight.
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Bake for 10 minutes covered and another 10 minutes uncovered.
- Enjoy!
Harper is going into 5th grade at a parochial school!
Hayden is in 2nd grade at her previous school.
Ella is a freshman this year!
There was a tree root growing up through the dirt and down into my little waterfall. My son Mike took care of it. Isn't it huge?
Thank you for your visit! xo
I'm sharing with these parties:
That millionaire pie looks so good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teapot Kitty and the pie looks delish. The kids are growing fast...my grandsons started school last week too and I can't believe how time has flown. Have a great day and stay cool. We lived in the Dallas area for years. Our twins were born in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteKitty the pie looks so good. I have made the ham sliders and they are fabulous. I can’t believe the kids are back to school and summer is almost over. 🥲. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteAww, such a bittersweet memory of your husband's passing, just one day before we celebrated our J's 4th birthday. The teapot is really nice, and that millionaire pie looks delicious, Kitty. Love seeing all the kids' back-to-school pics. My daughter posted her final.year of Nursing Masters picture today, knowing I want all the milestones captured. That tree root looks as though it was quite comfy near the fountain. Way to go, Mike!
ReplyDeletePS, those ham sliders are awesome. I made them once for Easter buffet, and I think they're even better leftover and reheated!
DeleteGood morning, Kitty. I know you miss your beloved hubby every day and you keep those sweet memories always in your heart. I love the Fitz and Floyd teapot, I would have definitely bought it, and I don’t need one more teapot, either. The back to school photos of the grands are precious. I used to make the millionaire pie, I had forgotten the recipe. Thanks for sharing and I need to make the ham sliders. Happy week!
ReplyDeleteHello Kitty, what a lovely post today, seeing all the smiles. I am praying for all as they start school.
