Brownie Pizza

I tried something new, and it turned out to be a complete blooper!

I wanted to use my microwave jams that I had made recently, but that turned out to be a not so good idea!!  Sometimes those things happen, but it still tasted good!  My son just about finished it off in one sitting.  I don't know how he stays so skinny??  If you'd like to see how pretty the fruit pizza COULD look, check my link Fourth of July Fruit Pizza.

Isn't this hand stitched piece adorable?  A friend made it for me and I just love it.

My stoneware is called Liberty by Coventry and I found it at a thrift store for so cheap, years ago, and I have the bowls and salad plates, too.  My festive lights in the rose bowls were another gift from a friend.  I have six of them and can change the colors to green and white lights also,  and there's a remote.

Brownie Pizza

Brownie Pizza

Instead of a sugar cookie base, I decided to use a brownie one.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. of brownie mix for an 8-9" mix, or use a recipe for that equivalent
  • 1 - 8 ounce pkg. of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • fresh berries for decorating (I used my microwave jam and it turned out to be a blooper, but sometimes that happens!)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to your recipe or whatever is on the box.
  2. Spray your 8 or 9" round cake pan with cooking spray, line it with a round piece of parchment paper, cut to fit, and then spray that again.
  3. Prepare your homemade brownie recipe or follow the recipe on the box, and spread it in your prepared pan. Bake according to directions. Let cool for about 10 minutes, and then turn the brownie onto a cooling rack to finish cooling.
  4. Into a medium size bowl, add the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto the cooled brownie.
  6. Decorate with fresh berries, and don't do as I did with the jam!

This piece was bought at a Trade Days so many years ago, and I still love it!  It's hanging on my gate fence.

Thank you for your visit!  xo

  1. Well, if your son nearly finished the brownie pizza off in one sitting, then it must have been delicious, Kitty. Your tablescape is looking very patriotic.

  5. Oh sweet Kitty - I had to laugh out loud at your opening line...I have no doubt your dessert was delicious! You weren't trying to impress anyone and you got to enjoy the deliciousness of the treat in spite of how it looked. Thanks for sharing your mishaps too. I have made a similar dessert using berries to make a star on top. Any way it looks, it's a fabulous combo of yummmm. Love all your red, white & blue decorations! <3

  6. Your blooper brownie pizza still looked good to me!

There's a show on Netflix called "Nailed It!" where home bakers try to recreate fancy desserts with varying degrees of success.

  11. I always get so miffed when a recipe misbehaves! It doesn't look like a blooper to me, and it looks great with all your darling red white and blue decor! The hand stitched piece is lovely and such a special piece. Love the Uncle Sam! Have a great week Kitty!

  14. I think it's more important to taste yummy than look perfect. ;) And it still looked really cute by the way! I have no doubt it tasted amazing!! I love the piece your friend made. So sweet. Have a blessed July 4th ahead. xo

  15. People say we eat with our eyes first. Well...I don't give a flip about the way it LOOKS! If it tastes good, I'm with your son...count me in!!!

  16. Funny how the skinny eat the most. Michael is same way - it is infuriating at times but he is also 6'3" and I am only 5' and shrinking so I give up.

What didn't you like about how it turned out? It sure looks good.

I love all your patriotic pieces - what fun. Looks as though you are all ready for Independence Day, Kitty! Happy hugs! ♥

  19. Kitty, I laughed out loud when I read "turned out to be a complete blooper!" We all have 'em! Your son sounds like one of my brothers. He never cared whether it was beautiful or a blooper, if it tasted good, he'd finish it off.

  20. Oh Kitty, I usually have weekly bloopers! I think your son was all you needed to see to know it was delicious. Love your pretty Patriotic setting. Happy Fourth of July Kitty.......

  21. Such a pretty piece of stitching from your friend. Bloopers happen! The brownie pizza might not look as good as you liked, but from the sounds of it, there was nothing wrong with the flavours!

  22. Happy Friday Kitty! I'm late visiting and love your patriotic table and decor! Your handstitched piece is adorable. Three cheers for brownie pizza...brownie, cream cheese and berries/jam, yum! I wish I had someone to share treats and recipe with, I used to send them to my hubby's office but most everyone is still working from home.
Wishing you and your family and wonderful Fourth weekend and holiday. 🇺🇸💙❤️

  23. We've all experienced those bloopers. But we are often overly critical of our own creations. It sounds like it was more of a success. :)

  24. I can't imagine anything you cook ever turning out to be a blooper! You are amazing and have so much talent. I'm sure it was absolutely delicious, even if it didn't look exactly how you wanted it to! Doesn't it make you sick when people around you can eat all they want and never gain a pound? LOL! I can just look at food and seem to gain! God bless you, my dear friend.
