For my tea time I am having my favorite salad, which I eat almost every, single day for lunch. Do I ever get tired of it? I have to admit that, no, I don't! One other thing that I'd like to share is that at Super Target deli, if you buy a 1 and 1/2 lbs. of sliced Archer Farms or Columbus lunchmeat, they give you 1/2 lb. of your choice of cheese for free. That's a deal!
This teacup, which is Olde English Countryside by Johnson Brothers, is another favorite of mine and is holding some cranberry tea. Countryside scenes and transferware just warm my heart. Recently I read an article on drinking something warm after eating a meal. The article stated that drinking something ice cold is actually like putting out the fire in your digestive system. It makes sense to me! What do you think?
This salad is just a mixture of fresh spinach, strawberries, sliced almonds, turkey breast and some cheddar cheese. Normally I add some avocado, but I was out at the time. Here's the recipe for the dressing:
Balsamic Dressing
1 tsp. mayonnaise or dijon mustard
1/2 cup Balsamic vinegar
1 cup vegetable oil
salt and pepper to taste
A couple of packets of sweetnener, if desired
Put the mayonnaise or dijon mustard in a bowl. This acts as an emulsifier. Slowly whisk in the vinegar and then the oil. Add your s & p and sweetener, if needed. Store in the fridge.

ReplyDeleteKitty, Your salad looks good and so healthy. I try to eat a light lunch too - usually yogurt and an apple. I want to give yours a try. Have a good week, Kitty. Hope Mike is doing better.
ReplyDeleteKitty, that is my kind of lunch...I am happy to have a salad each day. Love your pretty transferware cup and saucer.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great week.
Tea time is colorful and very cozy!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great salad. Interesting thought about the water temp...hmmm. I love the transferware...a favorite pattern. Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Mmm, yummy! Your salad looks simply delicious, Kitty. I read a while ago that the Japanese folks always drink hot tea with their meals which helps to break down the fats in one's dinner. Makes a lot of sense to me. I also read that to drink a glass of water before a meal helps to make one feel full which also helps curb the appetite. Lots of good advice out there. I don't think I would get tired of your salad either. I can eat poultry every day because I love it. Thank you for sharing and joining my tea party. Have a wonderful day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Your salad looks delicious! I can see why you have this healthy meal almost daily.
ReplyDeleteYour salad sounds wonderful Kitty! We enjoy one similar with chicken when I can count on good strawberries in season and my hubby likes blue cheese crumbles and pecans on his. I've never met a JB pattern I didn't love, and your cup and saucer are no exception! Thanks for the tip on the Super Target deli, I didn't know that :)
ReplyDeleteI too ejoy a salad for lunch. And for dinner that matter. I just add more meat and cheese when it is for dinner. I like Johnson Brothers tea sets very much.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very healthy and pretty lunch Kitty! You have a nice warm setting there-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for sharing this! Just pinned it and I MUST try it! www.catchatwithcarenandcody.com
ReplyDeleteI do believe I could eat your salad every day too Kitty. It's fun to dress them up with healthy additives and avocado is a favourite for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Kitty: I am going to try that salad. It looks so good. Interesting fact about the warm drink, it makes sense to me too. Thank you so much for your prayers. I really need to feel better. Today I felt some improvement. Sending hugs your way, Martha
ReplyDeleteYour salad looks delicious and filling, Kitty. Thank you for sharing your salad dressing recipe. I like having either salad or soup for my lunches. Healthy food is the best.
ReplyDeleteKitty, a variation on this salad is my favorite, too! Of course, having a condiment "phobia" (Ha!), I do not use dressing on mine. Your table setting is so pretty, too! I noticed the "English Countryside" plates - we do share similar interests!!
ReplyDeleteLove your salad Kitty; this is what my meals are looking like these days, too. and not at all a deprivation! Healthy, lo-cal, and part of my new lifestyle! I think fresh berries are like the icing on the cake! And your cup is lovely. Yes, I'm a big fan of hot drinks, so sounds good to me :) xo Deborah
ReplyDeleteYou salad looks delicious! I've never put strawberries and avocados together in a salad before so I will be trying that.
ReplyDeleteOh Kitty, this does look good!! It's a pretty salad, and pretty food always looks tastier, too. :) I'm going to pin this straight away, and thanks for the tip on drinking something hot after your meal. I had not heard that, but it makes sense to me, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!

ReplyDeleteHi Kitty, I could eat that salad everyday too. I didn't know that the Old English Countryside came in pink! I have the brown tones set but have never seen the pink one. I do love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog post.
Oh sweet Kitty, I think I can get addicted to your salad too; because I am, of salads, that is! Love the dressing too. I too watch my weight, therefore, this is for me! Love the Old Eng. teacup, so pretty.

Your salad looks delicious, Kitty! I love salads with strawberries and spinach. I like to add toasted nuts to mine. Blessings for a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite salads. I have never added the turkey and my dressing is a bit different. It's a poppy seed with 1/3 c. of strawberry jam added. It is so yummy as I am sure yours is as well! Love that transferware cup and cranberry tea sounds delish! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,

Looks like the perfect salad to bring a little bit of summer into our day!
ReplyDeleteI love a strawberry spinach salad. I have to get myself into the routine of salad every day. Will try this one for sure. My salad had a poppy seed dressing, while very good, not crazy about the seeds. lol
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the perfect salad Kitty! I wish I could have a lovely salad like this for lunch everyday! I am usually skipping or grabbing a spoon of peanut butter! Thanks for the tip about the warm tea, sounds so good!
