Let's have some blueberry pie and blueberry tea today! If you prefer, you can have your tea iced.
This blueberry pie is a family favorite and you can find the recipe here.
The only change is that I tried a new pie crust recipe, found below.

I'm using my forget-me-knots teacup that was painted by my late Great Aunt.
Flowers from the grocery store and placed in a canning jar make for a pretty centerpiece.
Never Fail Pie Crust, adapted from Allrecipes.com
I loved that this recipe made four crusts, and was very flaky! I'm planning on using this from now on.
4 cups flour
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup shortening and 1/2 cup butter
1T.vinegar
1 egg
1/2 cup water
Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut-in the shortening and butter with a pastry blender, or put in a food processor.
In a separate bowl mix vinegar, egg, and water. Add it to the flour
mixture, stirring with a fork until moistened. Divide dough into four equal parts. At this point you can flatten them and put in freezer proof bags and freeze for later use, if you don't need them all.
When ready to bake a pie, flour your surface and roll out the dough. Gently roll your dough over the rolling pin and ease into the pie pan. Trim around the edge, leaving a slight overhang. Tuck the edges under and make a decorative border.

Thank you for your visit! xo
Very nice Kitty! I just saw 2 pints of blueberries for $3 at one of the produce stores, it's that time of year:@)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty setting for some blueberry pie! Love your Aunt's tea cup - forget me not's are one of my favorites. Thank you for the pie crust recipe - now I have a craving.....the blueberries are ripe! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteI love that tea cup/saucer, Kitty, it is such a pretty color.
ReplyDeleteYour pie looks mouthwatering. I have never been able to make good pie crust...will be trying this recipe.
Have a wonderful weekend, Kitty.
Thanks, Kitty! I haven't mastered the art of making flaky crusts, but going to try again. Blueberry pie is my all time favorite fruit pie and yours just popped out of the monitor and I could nearly taste it.
ReplyDeleteYum yum yum yum yummmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs.
What an inviting little corner display & what a DELICIOUS looking pie!!! All your beautiful blues go together so well...LOVE that teacup!
ReplyDeleteThe blueberries are just now coming into season here & my sister has been out picking some every morning from our parent's bushes. (she inherited their home). I can't wait to try your 'no fail' recipe with some of them, especially using the recipe with the crumb topping.
Thanks again, Kitty, for a wonderful recipe!
A sweet tea themed tea table including the little blue bird. For the number of pies I make, I've been using the ready made Pillsbury pastry from the grocery store. I'll pin this for future use though as the combination of shortening and butter sounds healthier. Our blueberries are in for picking when we return from holidays and after looking at your scrumptious pie, I know what I want!
ReplyDeleteHi Kitty, what a lovely post. I adore the handpainted teacup. My grandmother's sisters did china painting. Not sure any of the pieces survived. I had hoped to have them someday, but not all family members treasure such thing. I have to try your recipe! I have too many no fail pie crust recipes in my box! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh Kitty, your pie looks amazing and I am craving a piece now. Thanks for the recipe and next time I make a pie I will have to try it :)
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend, my friend!
Sweet Kitty, your pie is making my mouth water...pies are hubby's fave dessert! Thanks for the recipe, I love perfect pie crusts...I will try yours.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

Kitty, your pie is making me wish for a slice right now. The crust looks flaky and delicious. I'll try your recipe. I make a no fail crust but it's a bit different.
ReplyDeleteI think I will be pinning your recipe. It looks de-lish!
ReplyDeleteLove your Ball jar arrangement too! :)Thank you so much for sharing this post for Fresh-Cut Friday. It's the perfect addition! :)
Have a great weekend.

And of course, it looks delicious. I'm a huge allrecipes fan. Aside from this blog and one other one, that's my most common pin source,
ReplyDelete(Should I be ashamed to tell you my own "no fail" pie crust recipe? It sounds something like this: Go to store. Buy frozen pie crust. Use it.
To say, therefore, that my pies don't taste like my mom's pies is intuitively obvious.
Vinegar and egg? Really? That is so very new to me. I think I'll have to try it just because it's so different! I have used the same pie crust recipe for about 40+ years, but you can teach this old dog new tricks if you make 'em sound intriguing enough! :-) I ALWAYS make my crust from scratch. I don't think I've ever used a store bought one. I'm sure they must be fine because they sell tons of them, but I just prefer to make it the old-fashioned way. Even this past fall after my shoulder surgery...it HAD to be homemade for Thanksgiving, so I lorded over Ramon and barked out instructions. Poor guy...he didn't stand a chance. He said Air Force boot camp AND med school were both easier! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kitty,
ReplyDeleteSadly, we don't get blueberries here on Crete, so I will have to enjoy this delicious delight vicariously via your photos! Your bouquet is charming and cheery! Thanks so much for sharing and have a lovely weekend!
Visiting via Fresh-Cut Friday,

ReplyDeleteI. WANT. PIE. FOR. BREAKFAST. !!
ReplyDeleteMy Aunt Lola gave this pie crust recipe to me back in the 60's and it's the only one I use.
xoxo
Blueberry pie is my favorite and this one looks especially good with that crumble of pie crust on top. You always have the prettiest tea tables...your aunt did a beautiful job on the tea cup.
ReplyDeleteYum! Your blueberry pie looks amazing, Kitty. I like my pie crust recipe, which also has vinegar in it, but I'm going to try this one. I love your great aunt's forget-me-not china; really pretty. I am happy to be back and having you join me for tea. Have a lovely week, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Sandi
Pretty pretty china. I love the daintiness. I too love blueberries. I will soon be able to buy Maine Wild Blueberries!!! when we travel there soon. They are even sweeter, if possible, than the high bush style.
ReplyDeleteI love when you pull out your beautiful hand painted teacups. Such a treat to see and a treasure for you. Blueberry pie ... yum!!! Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteBlueberry Pie + Forget-me-nots = Blue Loveliness!
