Triple Berry Crisp

I had a quick minute to set up a tea on Mother's Day!

It rained and poured most of the day, but we did have a little bit of a reprieve.  This pretty crocheted cloth was my little mom's, and I think it's actually a twin coverlet.  The napkins were my late Great Aunt Kitty's.  The framed picture was of my fun, feisty mom and I at my youngest son's wedding, having a great time.  Aren't the flowers so pretty?  My grandson Caiden and his fiancée came over and brought them.

The Grace's teapot is from a dear friend, and it's one that I use all Spring and Summer.  It's so pretty with my pink hydrangea plant.  Would you like this English Chintz Royal Albert, or......

.....or this Spring Meadow Royal Albert teacup?  They're both part of the 100 year collection that Kevin and Kristen gave me.  We are having Very Berry tea today.

This white heart dish is actually what I use for Creme Brulée, but it's so nice to use them for other desserts, too.

Triple Berry Crisp

Triple Berry Crisp

You can use fresh berries for this, but I had a bag of frozen mixed berries. I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup blackberries (see NOTE)
  • 3/4 cup raspberries
  • 3/4 cup blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter an 8 x8" or 9 x9" pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine the three berries and toss with the sugar. If using frozen mixed berries, put them in a bowl, sprinkle with sugar and toss, and let thaw for a bit.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, and spices. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Put the berries in the bottom of the pan, and then sprinkle the crumb mixture on top.
  5. Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until fruit is bubbly and topping is golden brown.
  6. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

I used about 2-1/2-3 cups of frozen mixed berries.

Top left photo is Caiden and Elizabeth, and next to that is what my son Mike had waiting for me on Mother's Day.  Middle photo is pizza with my son, Tim, and bottom photo is breakfast with my daughter Molly, and granddaughter, Cissy.

This is my newly planted Centennial Ruby Hydrangea, by Monrovia.  It came with a silver medal as part of the 100 year collection.  Isn't it stunning?!  Hopefully, it'll do well.

Here it is near my Rose of Sharon and the pretty garden angel that Molly gave me for Christmas.

Thank you for your visit!  xo

  1. Kitty, your Triple Berry Crisp looks like the perfect cozy spring dessert! I love how simple and versatile it is using either fresh or frozen berries, and that buttery oat topping sounds irresistible. Your Mother’s Day tea vignette was so sweet and heartfelt too…the crocheted cloth from your mom, your Great Aunt Kitty’s napkins, and those beautiful family photos made this post extra special. 🌸 The Grace’s teapot paired with your gorgeous pink hydrangea was such a pretty touch, and your new Centennial Ruby Hydrangea is stunning! Wishing it lots of happy blooms for years to come. 💕

  4. What a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day Kitty. You have such a loving family and your photos prove it. I was blessed with Mother's Day wishes off and on and in between Breakfast, Church and Sunday School. It is what we have to do living so many miles from them all. It is interesting that all the kids are still in the same Midwest area where they grew up and we enjoyed living there at the time... but, it is the Captain and I, who have moved to Florida.🥴 The good news is they all, grandkids included, love to come visit us, so we do get to see them, but it is not the same thing as living in the same town.
Your tea table is lovely and I would love my tea in the Spring Meadow tea cup....overlooking your new hydrangea plant. Thanks for yet another easy recipe. I did make the Almond Joy Cookies for my Bible study group and they LOVED them and I gave the ladies your recipe. 🥰We are both truly Blessed my sweet friend.🙏🏻

I hope your Mother’s Day was joy-filled💕

  7. Happy Monday Kitty,
I made rhubarb crisp for our Mother's Day dessert. :-)
Everyone liked it that tried it. Atticus did not try it, he is still a stinker about rhubarb. Ha ha!

I love that you are sharing how your plants are growing. I am so excited to see the rose grow and grow and grow.
We had to move our Sweet William Climbing rose because we will be building a new garage this summer. We moved it about four weeks ago and it is doing so well!!! I am so thankful, because I was worried how it would do after moving it.

I really like how the RA teacups and Gracie teapot go together beautifully. My fave is the English teacup!

  11. I should know better than to read your posts when I am having a sweets craving. Your crisp looks DELISH!! And your teat time tablescape is lovely. Those two teacups are so pretty.
Love your hydrangea. I am always surprised you can grow them in Texas. It's just usually so hot and dry - but if it was pouring yesterday perhaps not!!! We actually (rare) had a perfect day yesterday. That was a wonderful gift from God for us mommies. ♥

  12. Oh that ruby hydrangea is gorgeous. I haven't seen that shade in my neck of the woods. They're all blue, white or hot pink. We do have two very large Rose of Sharon hedges that flower on my property though. I adore them. I can't wait to see how yours takes off! Happy Belated Mother's Day, Kitty...love that pic of you and your mom!!

  13. I love Grace's teapots, they are just gorgeous. I also loved the picture of you and your precious mother, the joy on your faces is so special! The triple berry crisp looks so delicious, especially in your darling heart shaped dishes! Glad you had such a special time with all your kids for Mother's Day! I love hydrangeas, but struggle to find one to acclimate to our climate here. I hope yours does well, they are such a beautiful plant! Blessings to you!
