Easter Quiche and Hot Cross Buns for Tea on Tuesdays

I am truly honored to be a guest blogger for Tea on Tuesdays.

Mary and Pam have the most beautiful blogs and I am thankful to call them friends, and to be invited to share my special Teatime for Easter.  You will be inspired by their lovely teatimes by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page.

Thank you, Mary and Pam for inviting me.

My al fresco Easter breakfast tea started with this most beautifully embroidered tablecloth that Michele sent me last year.  Isn't this the sweetest design?  It fits on my outdoor table just perfectly.

I've made my very favorite Hot Cross Buns from a recipe that a sweet Australian friend shared with me.  These buns are so heavenly, and truly incredible.   You can find the recipe for them here.   This year I decided to just pipe on the cross after they were cooled, with a simple powdered sugar and water icing.  The Bavarian plate was from my Paternal Grandmother Grace.  I love having family pieces.

Wanting to go with a blue theme to match my tablecloth, I found directions to make this folded bunny napkin.  Allrecipes provided the easiest instructions that I found, after attempting some others that were so frustrating.  The pretty Bavarian plate was one of my little Mom's.  She loved hanging plates on the wall, and I know I inherited her love of pretty china pieces.

My sister gifted me this Grace's Teaware teacup and it has a toile scene inside of the cup, which complements my quiche dish.

Using one of my kid's Easter basket, I found flowers from Trader Joe's to fill it and picking up the colors in my tablecloth.  My son, Mike, stenciled several rocks for me and this Faith one is so appropriate for Easter.  My cross is from last year's palm on Palm Sunday.

My youngest son and Daughter-in-law gave me this Anthropologie Quiche dish.

Not being able to fit everything on my table,  I used my little outdoor ottoman for assistance.  The bunny cabbage teapot is an oldie but goodie, and the beautiful English Breakfast tea was from Mary.  My bunny planter contains my Shamrock plant from St. Patrick's Day.

Impossible Quiche

Impossible Quiche

This is a wonderful quiche that forms it's own crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 c chopped broccoli or cauliflower
  • 1 medium onion chopped or several green onions
  • 1 small red or green pepper, chopped
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • About 1 cup of ham, chopped
  • 3/4 c Bisquick
  • 1 1/2 c milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cut broccoli up and microwave for 5 minutes.
  3. Grease large pie plate and put broccoli, onion, pepper, ham and cheese in it.
  4. Stir remaining ingredients together and pour over the ingredients in the pie plate.
  5. Bake uncovered 35-40 min until knife test clean.

Notes

You can substitute frozen spinach thawed & squeezed out & Swiss cheese.

You can leave out the ham and just have a veggie quiche.

If you have leftovers, you can easily cut into serving sized pieces, and freeze.

Your tablecloth from Michelle is adorable! How special! You have lots of special treasures on your tea table—the painted rock from your son, the quiche plate and server from your son and your daughter-in-law, special plates from your Mother along with your tea cup from your sister. There are a lot of sweet memories at your table.
I make quiche and frittatas often, but I have never made an Impossible Quiche. Thank you; I am going to try your recipe.
Happy Tuesday and Happy Holy Week. Enjoy your Easter sweet friend.

  7. Kitty, I love your tea table and beautifully stenciled rock. Isn't family great? I would also love to sit with you and sip tea and munch on quiche and those delightful hot cross buns. I have also had a few problems with folding bunny ears napkins as my ears usually flop over which reminds me of Peter Rabbits' Mopsy and Flopsy. LOL. Have a Blessed and Glorious week.
