Easy Decorating Icing

I froze some gingerbread cookies to have for a New Year's treat.   Does anybody else love gingerbread?  We had some frigid temperatures overnight, after experiencing 80 degree temperatures this past week.  Winter came in a hurry for 2022.  Gingerbread Joy tea is perfect for sipping, while eating some gingerbread cookies.

Isn't this a pretty pattern that a sweet friend sent to me awhile back?  It just says Registered USA Celebrate Japan on the back.  It's perfect for Wintertime.

My sister sent me this pretty teapot years ago, and I keep it on my coffee table in January.  It doesn't have a name.

My son, Mike, had a New Year's Eve birthday, and I made his favorite German Pancakes.

We also watched Layla for my son, Kevin, DIL, Kristen and Harper and Hayden, while they were at a wedding in Arkansas.  Layla is such a sweet dog.

Connor left for San Diego, and we probably won't see him for awhile.  I went to my daughter's to say goodbye to him before he headed back.

Easy Decorating Icing

Easy Decorating Icing

This is a great icing for kids to use. I make up a batch and then put the icing in baggies for the kids to use, and cut a small bit off one of the corners. You can easily double the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
  • pinch salt
  • about 2 tablespoons room temperature water

Instructions

  1. Mix together all the ingredients. If the icing is too thick, just add a little water; too thin, add a little powdered sugar.
  2. You can use a squeeze bottle, spread on the icing, or put in decorating bags or baggies.
  3. You can outline your design and then flood the center and spread with a knife, if you wish.

Thank you for your visit!  xo

  9. It's perfect gingerbread weather here too Kitty as we experienced the same drop in temps from balmy mid 70 degree days! I'm a gingerbread fan, my hubby not so much. Love your pretty teapot. I know your son & dil must have appreciated your pet sitting. Layla looks very content to curl up next to Mike. Happy belated birthday wishes to Mike and thoughts and prayers for Connor's safety in the coming months. ♥
