For my tea today, I am using the beautiful "Poppy" teacup that my dear friend Bernideen from Bernideen's Tea Time Blog sent me to share her sympathy with me after my hubby passed away. She also sent a delightful Fruit Spiced Tea from her shop, Bernideen's, in Colorado. Thank you for my lovely, thoughtful gifts! I think of you whenever I sip my tea from this pretty cup.
Isn't this teacup so pretty? I love that there's a poppy peeking on the inside, too. Bernideen knows me so well to send my favorite color!
Apple Crunch
Oh how I love this dessert! I believe I love it more than apple pie. The topping is wonderful and has a wonderful texture. I hope you try it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
4 large apples, peeled (I used my apple/peeler/corer/slicer)
1 t. cinnamon
some freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Topping
1 cup flour
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
6 T. melted butter
Lightly butter inside of 9-inch pie plate. Place sliced apples in dish. Sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar over apples. Pour the water evenly over this.
For Topping: Mix flour and brown sugar together and add the melted butter. Stir together and set aside for 5 minutes, then break apart with fingertips. Sprinkle on top of the apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes, checking for the tenderness of the apples and for the topping to be golden brown.

The apple crunch sounds delicious! I wish I had some right now :) Better yet, I wish I was sitting with you enjoying some blessed conversation :) Have a good day, Kitty! Love you!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful tea cups, I do love apples with a crumb crust. Joni
ReplyDeleteYour apple peeler looks like a very sturdy one Kitty! I have one from Ross and so far it's been working well, they are very handy! Love your pretty tea cup and the dessert sounds great:@)
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! My name is Katie and I host Fall Into the Holidays, open Saturdays. I would love to have you link up! This week’s round is still open!
ReplyDeleteI may try to figure out a way to have some apple crunch this Fall. I always made either crunch or crisp. I don't remember the difference now! But they are so sweet and good. Love your pretty poppy tea cup my friend. You know we all care about you and want you to feel loved! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in your poppy cup. I am always looking for new apple recipes...this sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing, Kitty.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty tea cup and the color is wonderful. Apple crisp, haven't made or eaten one in a loonnng time, too long! Need to rectify that. xo
ReplyDeleteThe apple crunch looks delicious. I have to look for the spiced tea. It's turned autumn and tea time in New York City. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty mug from Bernideen, everyone knows how much you like red. I'll definitely try the apple crunch so that I can do away with the pastry of a pie.
ReplyDeleteIs your apple peeler mounted on the wooden block? Mine has a suction cup and lever to stick to the counter by the sink but I can get cranking pretty fast and pull the whole thing off. LOL

P.S. Happy to be your newest follower.

Hmmmm...that apple crunch recipe sounds wonderful. I appreciate those that don't have oatmeal since we have some family members who can't have it. It also sounds like a good size recipe for one or two. Your poppy tea cup is indeed a treasure. Bernideen is a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteHi Kitty, The apple crunch sounds amazing! Love that beautiful teacup that Bernideen sent. Have a good week, Kitty.
ReplyDeleteKitty, That looks SO good- I can almost smell it from here! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful & very thoughtful gift, Kitty! I love the poppies...they were my MIL favorite flower. I don't think she knew that opium came from them. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that apple crunch recipe. I have everything in the house to make it tomorrow...well, except for an apple/peeler/corer/slicer!! I'll have to do it the old fashioned way.
Sending germ free hugs,
Rett
WOW! SUCH a beautiful teacup and saucer. I believe I'd be spilling my tea all over me because I'd be so enthralled with looking at the lovely flowers. It's very special. Your friend sure does know you well! =) I am wild about apple crunch desserts too..just finished off a crockpot apple crisp here tonight. I do love fresh nutmeg in mine too. Thanks so much for sharing at Weekend Potluck. May you enjoy a beautifully blessed week ahead. XO
ReplyDeleteKitty, you have so many pretty things! What a thoughtful gift! Is your apple peeler from Pampered Chef? I should get mine out ;o) I would love a bite of that apple crunch! I hope you have a good week dear friend. xo

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Hugs,

Kitty your tea cup is absolutly beautiful! I love the shape of it, oh la la!!
ReplyDeleteI will have to try your apple crisp for sure. I made an apple pie for dessert yesterday with some delicious apples off of my mothers tree that had great flavor, although they were quite small and it took me an hour and a half to peel and slice them. I just sat by the fire side and enjoyed the sit down quiet time.
Blessings!
Hello dear Kitty
ReplyDeleteLovely to catch up with you for tea today!
Isn't that so kind of Bernideen to send you such lovely gifts - friends make such a difference to our lives.
Thank you for your Apply Crunch recipe - in New Zealand we call it Apple Crumble and it is one of our favourite Autumn/Winter desserts with cream and yoghurt mixed together (half of each) healthier than straight cream!!
Thank you for popping to share tea with me too!
Hugs and love

What a good friend. Your teacup is gorgeous. I love all my food/cooking related gifts; each and every one of them. Every time I use one I think of the person that gave it to me. Your apple crunch sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteYour Apple Crunch reminds me of a recipe I used to regularly make when I was first married, but have long since lost. I'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteIt's a treat to have you at Seasonal Sundays!
- The Tablescaper
Your apple crunch looks delicious. It's a little bit different than the apple crisp recipe that I make and I think that the topping really sounds better than mine. I will be trying this! Bernideen is a sweet and talented lady. So kind of her to send some joy your way. Think of you often.
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
One of my favorite Fall dishes Kitty. Love the sweet gift from Bernideen! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

What a pretty teacup! And your recipe sounds like the Apple Crisp I can't seem to keep in the house with my 15 year old son eating half of it when I make it! So good this time of year! Visiting from Seasonal Sundays and following your lovely blog!
