Popcorn Snack Mix for Fall in Love with Texas Blog Tour

Hi everyone, and please join me on my patio!  How about starting off with some yummy popcorn mix that my sweet granddaughter, Cissy, mixed up for us?  Would you like a cup of apple cider, hot cocoa or tea, while we........

Katie, from Let's Add Sprinkles was so kind in coordinating this for us.  Thank you so much, Katie!

Cissy gathered all the decorations for the table.  She grabbed these pumpkins that I made years ago.  It's a quick project, using homespun fabric, then sewing on patches and buttons, and attaching twigs, raffia, and silk leaves. The pumpkins are weighted with rice on the bottom and then stuffed with polyfil.

My Blessings mug is a favorite for Fall!

Here's Cissy sprinkling Halloween sprinkles on the warm almond bark.

Yield: About 8 Goody Bags

Popcorn Snack Mix

Cissy and I adapted Mary's recipe, by increasing the amount of popcorn and using Almond Bark. It's a fun project to make with kids, and can be adapted for different holidays!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 24 ounces of Almond Bark (We used Aldi's brand), or similar candy coating
  • About 10 cups of popped corn, removing old maids
  • Colored jimmies
  • Pretzels (We used pumpkin and bat shaped pretzels from Target)
  • Candy of your choice, such as M&M's, candy corn, etc.
  • Mixed Nuts or Peanuts can be added

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Pop your popcorn. Cissy and I did ours in my microwave popcorn popper, doing two batches. Be sure to remove any old maids and unpopped kernels. Place your popcorn in a large bowl.
  2. Melt the almond bark according to package directions.
  3. Mix the warm almond bark with the popcorn, stirring until coated. Spread this onto wax paper or parchment lined baking sheets.
  4. While the candy coating is still warm, add the jimmies or sprinkles. Let this set until cool, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Once the mixture is cool, break it apart, and then add pretzels, candy, nuts, etc. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.

Cissy and I made goody bags to share for her Mom's (my daughter's birthday) for all the kids.  Please help yourself before you leave.

Here's a Happy Birthday picture of my daughter, Molly, along with her four kids!

  Thank you for your visit!
