Soft Frosted Sugar Cookies

My fireside tea is with my favorite winter teapot that my sister found for $1.49 at a thrift store.  I'm sipping some eggnogg'n tea, by Bigelow in my Walgreen's pine cone mug.  Even though nothing matches, I love  how everything blends.

The plate is aptly named Pine Cone, by French Saxon China, and dates back to the 1950's.  I found four of these for 25 cents each at our Trade Days.  I have to say that they are one of my all-time favorite plates, and love that they are so vintage.   I looked the pattern up on the internet and they go for a lot more.  I think I got a great deal!

These soft frosted sugar cookies are a favorite of my grandchildren and  I have to admit that I love them, too.  If you love the grocery store ones, I hope you give these a try.  They can be decorated for any season and the recipe can be found on my blog, here.

I am sharing this with these lovely parties:

Thank you for your visit!  xo

  14. Such a lovely spot to sit & enjoy your tea & cookies! I think this is only the second Christmas in my life that I didn't make or eat sugar cookies! I just ran out of time. I'll have to do some for my birthday instead.

I have a tennis friend whose last name is "Pine" & she collects anything with pinecones. She would LOVE this entire vignette. I shall send her a link to come see it.

I hope you're staying warm in TX. Would you believe it is -11º at the moment???!!!! Horrid, wicked, deadly cold. HURRY UP SPRING!!!

  16. Because I'm a plate addict, I zoned in on that pine cone plate right away. I love that. I also like the way you said it all blended whether it "matched" or not. That's kind of a good life philosophy, isn't it? Somehow, I think it goes with my word and color of the year. Pondering that...

And the cookies look delicious. I'm one who doesn't like sugar cookies when they are hard. I like a soft cookie like that.

  17. Dear Kitty,
what a cosy setting in front of the fireplace. Nothing is better on a cold day than to have tea and cookies while looking into the fire. It warms me up just by thinking about it. :-) The cookies look so tempting, would love to have some here. And your dishes are fabulous. I love them all. So sweet for the season.
Stay warm and take care, best greetings,
    Johanna

  19. Ah, I see we were thinking alike...pine cones ! I love using pine cone themed dishes and decorating this time of the year and you really did get some good deals with yours. Soft sugar cookies are really my favorite cookies, perfect for almost any tea time and if made with real butter & vanilla, and farm fresh eggs, the very best ! Yours make me hungry and thinking maybe I should make another batch or two for the winter weeks ahead.

I love sugar cookies way too much (I hate to think what I weigh now after the Christmas holidays). Thanks for sharing your recipe and your cozy images with us!

    Warm hugs to you,
